Glehias Facilities

The farmhouse sleeping four and the floating cabin providing lakeside facilities are both included with the hire of the lake.

The Farmhouse Accommodation

Traditional French farmhouse accommodation. The old stone Farmhouse was originally built in 1534 and largely rebuilt in 1852, it sleeps up to four people and is set just a short walk (approx. 500 metres) from the lakes. Built from traditional stone and cob, the house stays pleasantly cool in summer, while its gently creaking floorboards add to the authentic charm of this old French home.

There are three bedrooms - one double and two singles, shower and toilet. Downstairs there is a large reception room with two comfy sofas and a TV with some English Freeview channels. The kitchen is well equipped with oven and hob, sink, kettle, microwave, fridge/freezer and toaster, plus a separate deep-freezer for bait. There are also several UK sockets in the dining room for charging bait-boats and mobile phones, etc.

Bedding and tea-towels are provided, but you need to bring your own bath towels. We can also provide a cot, however you will need to bring your own bedding for this. Please let us know in advance if you need us to set up the cot.

Please note; there is no central heating in this house - which isn't usually an issue in the main summer months, but something to consider in the shoulder seasons. A gas heater is available upon request, the cost of the gas is whatever it is locally in the supermarket (usually around €50 a barrel).

The owners live on site next door to the farmhouse accommodation and so are on hand if you have any queries, or need topping up on bait etc. otherwise they will leave you to enjoy your holiday.

Due to the distance between the farmhouse and the lake, it is not possible to leave rods unattended while at the accommodation.

The Floating Cabin

In addition to the farmhouse, you benefit from the unique Floating Cabin; a bespoke hexagonal timber cabin floating on the tranquil waters of the stock lake, Lake William. The cabin houses the on-site facilities - toilet, tea making facilities and seating /dining area.

Constructed in natural materials and accessed via a wooden pontoon bridge from Lagoon Walk, the cabin looks right at home tucked-in amongst the reeds of stump lagoon. With a panoramic window you will be able to enjoy the views across the lake whilst enjoying a cuppa. The platform is a generous 6m diameter, giving plenty of internal space for all the facilities and a comfortable decked walkway overlooking the lake and surrounding countryside.

There is also a BBQ at your disposal on Lake Lauren, set in the far east corner of the lake complex so as to benefit from the last of the summer sun.

The Farmhouse has a direct connection to mains water, while the Floating Cabin does not. Water is transported in barrels from the Farmhouse to the cabin.

Bringing your Campervan

Whilst the parking of vehicles is prohibited anywhere on the banks, there is room for a camper van right by the gate (unfortunately there is not enough turning room for a caravan).

Phone Signal

You can usually get good 3G both at the lake and outside the Farmhouse.
