Simple hair rigs, bottom baits, fishing tight to the far margin. Bait boat is a must.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Lovely shower, kitchen, very clean. Make sure you bring a bike or scooter as it’s a long walk!

Early in season so hard to say how the fishing is normally, 50% of the caught carp under 30lb. Weather was all over the place. Would go back to Jonchery fishery yes. But I would not fish Jonchery 8 again.

Tough one. Mark and wife are lovely. We had a great time. But for me too many small carp in the lake.

Tried everything within the week to get bites. Didn’t seem fish were feeding actively to be able to catch.

Yes - made a difference the fact the main lake was shut so was only J7 & J8 using facilities.

7th time using angling lines now, service great as always.

General Comments:

As above, tried bottom baits, wafters, pop ups, bags & zigs over the course of the week. Couldn’t buy a bite really in the end. Mark had a little chat with us upon arrival to advise the lake hadn’t been fishing too well, so worked with the information we had. Most of the fish showing looked to be under 20lb with only a few good fish showing across the week. The 2 fish caught & 3 lost all felt from the same weight category. I do feel there are a lot more smaller fish in the lake than advertised. Lads on J7 caught but not to the degree you’d expect from that lake, one of them weeks I’m afraid. *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you had a really difficult week. Whilst there have been no significant changes to the stock, the lake is netted every winter and we will have the most up to date information then.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Needs to be more than one toilet and shower, preferably something J7 & J8 can use. In my opinion, food was below average and not value for money compared to other venues. *Bailiff's note* Unfortunately another toilet and shower cannot be placed closer to J7 & J8 as it is classed as a 'natural area'. We are also sorry you weren't satisfied with the food package, this is the first we've heard this in 10 years.

Fine in general. Venue is nicely kept and quiet, nice looking complex, Mark was helpful onsite.

Expected more from description of J8 but do understand that sometimes these things happen.

Nothing to write home about! We only caught 3 carp and a few small cats. The weather turned really cold windy and wet on our second day and remained like it all week, J7 fished bad as well.
