Accommodation

The beautiful 400 year old farmhouse is set in 5.5 acres of landscaped grounds and sits approximately 60m from the lake, up a tree lined track. The three bedroomed accommodation is fully equipped for up to 8 guests.

Outside you will find an extensive sun terrace with dining table, a large brick BBQ, sun loungers and an above ground pool (open from the end of May to the end of September).

There's a sheltered games area with a full size snooker table and darts board. Further into the gardens you'll find a boules court and another seating area. There are another 2 picnic tables placed around the grounds, one in the orchard and one by the lake. The orchard includes a mix of apple, pear, fig and apricot trees which you are welcome to pick when ripe. 

On the ground floor you enter into the comfortable living room where you will find 2 sofas, a small dining table, Smart TV with Sky (including sports and movies), DVD player (with a selection of DVDs), Wi-Fi and a bookcase full of good reads.

From here you can enter the bright and airy sun room which looks out onto the garden and has two further leather sofas in addition to a larger dining table.

There are a couple of steps down into the kitchen, which has everything you need including;
- double oven and grill
- microwave
- coffee-maker and Tassimo
- dishwasher
- fridge freezer

You'll also find a washing machine, tumble dryer, separate drinks fridge, ironing board, iron, clothes airer and hairdryer.

The ground floor houses the bathroom and separate second WC.

The house is connected to the mains water and has full central heating, it is exceptionally warm in the winter months. The living room also includes a log burning fireplace (please bring your own logs) and there are oil filled radiators if you want to take the edge off a chilly spring or autumn evening.

Bedrooms

The first bedroom is on the ground floor and includes a king size bed, side tables, built-in wardrobes and a chair.

The second bedroom is on the first floor, a large family room equipped with a double bed and bunk bed. There's a games console with games, Smart TV and DVD player plus a selection of children's games and books.

The third bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom and here you'll find a king-sized bed with side tables, a large wardrobe, two arm chairs and a Smart TV.

Important to note; the stairs leading to the second & third bedroom are quite steep - we have included a photo in the accommodation gallery. There is no door to separate the second bedroom and staircase, but there is a child safety gate at the top of the stairs. The bathroom and toilet are located on the ground floor only.

All bed linen and towels are provided but please bring your own pool towels.

A travel cot & highchair are available, please request in advance if required.

Please note; Rods must not be left unattended, you are welcome to fish at night but would need to do so in a bivvy by the lake.

 

The Local Area

If you like the outdoors then you are in the heart of some very beautiful countryside. The Perigord Limousin National Park is only 300 metres away and the area is crossed by fantastic cycle routes. You are just 5-10 minutes drive away from the great lakes of the Upper Charente and their beaches, watersports and restaurants.

If you need a little bit of retail therapy you are 15-25 minutes drive away from the picturesque towns of Montbron, Rochechouart, La Rochefoucauld and Chabanais. For larger cities you are only 45 minutes from Angouleme and 50 minutes from Limoges.  

Brantome is an attractive town near the northern edge of the Dordogne department, known as the Venice of the Dordogne - it has a mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire.
