Details of your catches:

47 fish, mainly commons and mirrors. 13 over 30 lbs with one 40 at 43 10. Several fish over 36 including a common of 36 12. The odd grass carp but no bream. One white koi too.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Used 25 kgs boilies during the week, so baited quite heavily in several areas. Poisson çhat moved in and once this happened i found it best to find a new spot. Used very large hook baits of up to 30mm to stop nuisance fish and it worked well. Next time i would bring some bullet hard baits too. At times i used only 1 rod as action was so quick! I only fished about 7 hours a day and not after 11 pm. There was no need to fish through the night.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes.

Were you happy with them?

Yes they are excellent.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes. Gilles and Sharon are excellent hosts. Its a fantastic place and area to visit. Next time i will fish the river too.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Mas Bas is a great place to relax and get away from it all!

Details of your catches:

2 forties to 45lb 2oz (Mirrors) 10 thirties to 35lb 2oz (Mirrors and Commons) 11 twenties to 29lb 8oz (Mirrors and Commons) 3 teens to 18lb 4oz (Mirror, Grass and Koi) Only one night was fished and selected hours throughout the days. The girlfriend did not fish.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Combi-rigs were used throughout the week for all bottom bait, snowman and pop-up presentations. The baiting tactic was ‘little and often’ using a combination of Quest Baits Magnum Duo, Chilli Chocolate and Rahja Spice boilies in 10mm, 15mm and 20mm. Hookbaits were often different from the baited free offerings with Quest Baits Fruity Trifle boilies in 15mm and 20mm being the most successful.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities provided at this venue exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is complete with full cooking facilities together with a full range of cutlery and crockery. There is also a fridge freezer, washing machine, drier and TV. The barbecue located between the house and the swimming pool was extremely useful and was put to good use. All bed linen and bath towels were provided and laundered by the proprietors, Gilles and Sharon, who throughout our stay were very supportive and helpful. They called round every other day to see if anything was required. Please note that you are requested to take your own tea towels.

Were you happy with them?

We were more than happy with the facilities provided by the owners. Provisions were easily obtained from the supermarket located in the nearby town of Laroque-Timbaut which is approximately 3 miles away from the venue.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

We would definitely recommend this venue to friends. The lake and house are located in a picturesque area surrounded by agricultural land. Gilles is happy to impart good advice on how to achieve the best results from the lake. By following his advice we certainly put more fish on the bank. On four separate occasions we achieved multiple takes. We would definitely recommend that any new visitors to this venue take at least two landing nets. As we were taking a May holiday we selected Mas Bas Main Lake on the basis that it is the most southerly venue in France and the weather is warmer. If a visitor is taking a girlfriend or the family then we would recommend this venue without hesitation. It provides all of the facilities required and the weather is better than venues further north.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes.

General Comments:

If the budget allows we would recommend taking the ferry to St. Malo and making an overnight stop at Bordeaux which is approximately a 5 hour drive. This enabled us to travel on to Mas Bas the next morning fully refreshed and ready to go. Without the overnight stop in Bordeaux the venue is approximately a 6 ½ hour drive from the St. Malo ferry terminal.

General Comments:

Lovely setting, and proximity to the house for anglers meant we actually saw the rest of the party, which was great. Pool lovely but didn't really get the weather to appreciate it as much as we would have liked. Gilles and Sharon were good hosts.
