Details of your catches:

We caught 10 Carp in total biggest 45 but others tipped the scale at 41, 39, 38, 37 and a few high 20's. Catfish 5, biggest 45lb. 12 Sturgeon, biggest 100lb but others weighed in the 50, 60, 70 & 80lb regions.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Best bait was Sticky Baits Krill frozen baits and pop ups glugged with Krill juice. Best rigs were snowman and stiff hinged rigs using size 2 and 4 hooks and 5oz leads. Fish the silt not the gravel.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were basic

Were you happy with them?

They were adequate

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes but only if he was experienced angler as it's not for beginners.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, your services were excellent and faultless.

General Comments:

A difficult lake with basic facilities but once you work out how to fish it it's a very rewarding lake that we will be returning very soon alongside some Dutch friends we made on the lake. Frank is very helpful and full of useful information.

Details of your catches:

Total of about 20 fish. My biggest carp was 44lb the biggest of the trip. I also had 2 additional 40's and numerous 30s. Sean caught the lake record sturgeon weighing 140lbs and his biggest carp was 43lbs. He lost many fish to the snags (sucked trees) we fished 14,15,16 pegs however due to terrible winds moved onto the western side pegs.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I personally fished particle hook baits and did pretty well to be fair. Sean fished Boilies and tigers and did very well but attracted the sturgeon a little more. I fished margins rather than open water but both produced fish. A very cold and windy week but relatively productive. One of the other guys on the lake had a 57lb mirror to bolies and there group had countless sturgeon and cats on mackerel chunks and halibut pellets. I was avoiding cats and sturgeon and particle seemed to be a good tactic to do this.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Weird facilities to be honest. Think if I understood correctly we were using a bathroom in the bailiffs house. There was only a few of us on the lake so this wasn't a problem but if the lake was full and your busting for a crap it may be, lol. I would take a push bike if I went back as its a long way to walk to the facilities from the far pegs. You can use your car of course. The water in the shower smelled of metal. It was however warm and powerful. The swims are not good. Steep access to the water and in some places the water in margins is deep so be prepared for this on some swims. There is a requirement for bark chipping or gravel in the swims as at the moment there is only mud and when it rained we were filthy is minutes few. That being said the lake has some big fish in for sure and I'm sure with a few more years the Carp could be huge with more bait hitting the water. Not an easy water, lots of snags to contend with so again if you want an easy life avoid this venue. If you stick with it and fish hard there are rewards to be had. Avoid fishy/savoury baits I'd your not a fan of cats and sturgeon.

Were you happy with them?

Not complaining as the venue is very cheap. Would go back but a few weeks later in April or much later in the year.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

If they are experienced and in know way looking for luxury. If you are a true drive and survive angler you will enjoy it.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Of course, been traveling with angling lines for 8 years to France

General Comments:

Remove some of the marginal snags and mark the main snags in the lake, sort out the pegs asap and better facilities for freezing bait. Build new wash facilities and charge more money for the venue.
