Details of your catches:

48 carp up to 52lb 6oz between 5 anglers Including within the above number were 12 grass carp up to 42lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Because of the issues with crayfish, double goo soaked tiger nut over a tight bed of house particle. In areas where the carp were showing, zigs, 3' below surface

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, exactly what you expect from a drive and survive. A big chest freezer, two fridges, shower & toilet. Power for charging. Perfect. Many swims were double and comfortable

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes. LeShuttle made things difficult by changing the times of the crossings but Angling Lines were helpful by giving us some alternatives and applying the changes.

General Comments:

Hold onto your fishing rods because Blue Lake took us on a rollercoaster of aquatic shenanigans! This place had its fair share of surprises, from hard battling carp, a surplus of grass carp, a crayfish conundrum to a questionable amount of litter, all set against a backdrop of stunning scenery that made it hard to stay mad for long. Let's start with the stars of the show: the carp. These slippery creatures were everywhere, swimming around like they owned the place. It was like stumbling into a carp convention, complete with fin-waving and tail-flipping presentations. These finned gladiators put on a display of strength and cunning that would make even the greatest wrestling champions jealous. With every bite, they put up a fight that left me feeling like a hapless amateur in a battle of wits. But hey, we managed to catch a fair number of carp, even if we had to outsmart the crafty crayfish to do so! Ah, the crayfish—the unruly party crashers of the lake. These pinchy creatures seemed to have declared themselves the protectors of the carp, determined to prevent anyone from enjoying a carp-centric feast. It was like watching a comedic dance-off, with the crayfish performing their own version of the cha-cha as they skillfully snatched bait from our rigs. Talk about a "claw-some" obstacle course! Now, let's address the litter situation. While 'Blue Lake' may have its own unique way of blending nature and human-made artefacts, it's clear that some folks didn't quite get the memo about proper waste disposal. We’re talking about old bottle lids, fag butts, broken glass, discarded terminal tackle but I must admit, I was half-expecting to reel in an old boot instead of a carp at times! I am pleased to say we left the lake in a much tidier state than what greeted us. But let's not dwell on the negatives. The surroundings of the lake were nothing short of breath-taking. It was as if Mother Nature wanted to distract us from the crayfish capers and litter troubles by displaying her artistic flair. So, while you're engaged in an epic battle with those carp gladiators, take a moment to appreciate the serene beauty that surrounds you. It's like a little holiday for the soul, with intermittent bouts of hilarity. In conclusion, Blue Lake may have its quirks, but it also delivers some memorable fishing moments. So, gather your sense of humour, embrace the challenges, and prepare for a fishing adventure that will leave you both scratching your head and grinning from ear to ear. Remember, fishing is all about embracing the unexpected, and Blue Lake knows how to keep you on your toes—or should I say, fins? Note: Please remember to respect the environment and properly dispose of your rubbish. Let's keep our fishing spots clean and enjoyable for everyone!

Carp 5 x doubles to 19 1/2lb 14 x 20's to 29 1/2lb 11 x 30's to 38lb 5 x 40's to 48lb 12 oz 3 x 50's to 56lb 4oz Also 3 sturgeon to 105lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Pop ups. Bottom baits were a huge waste of time due to the massive cray fish problem.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes

Were you happy with them?

Could be better. Some of our group fished their 5 years ago and no improvements have been made. Could do with updating and maybe adding some new facilities. A seating area and BBQ would be a good start.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Probably not. But if the cray fish were dealt with and facilities improved then definitely.

General Comments:

Half of our group fished there 5 years ago and sold the venue to the rest of us. But they were left disappointed after this trip. The water quality was much worse than before and there were no cray fish last trip. This time the cray fish ruined fishing for several people and made the week very difficult and frustrating. Also, the large sturgeon are a nuisance. Great if you land one but some are far too big for carp fishing gear. Multiple lines were broken as a result and the 105lb we landed had a badly damaged fin and was wrapped in line from previous trips. As a result it is doubtful we will go back.
