Details of your catches:

We had around 55 fish between us up to 57lb. I finished with 19 fish but mainly stockies and 4 30s to 38.12. My mate in the deeper water had a better stamp of fish with a few 40s and a couple of 50s, with 3 big sturgeon as well from the centre of the deep water.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I came out last in the draw and fished peg 3. The weather changed for the better for me I fished a rod length off the left tree line at 29 wraps. I fished tigers topped with fake corn because I get hassled with crayfish.

Details of your catches:

Very slow start to the week fishing peg 6. No action until 1am Thursday morning but ended the week with 4 carp - 2 x 44lb 1 x 42lb 1 x 38lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Snowman presentation, using 18mm DNA S7 hard booker topped with a 12mm PB pop up

Were the facilities what you expected?

Basic but did the job. Could do with being updated.

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes, used Angling Lines before and will use them again.

General Comments:

The fish spent the whole week showing in deeper water in front of pegs 10/11 so was hard to get them feeding. In front of peg 6 the deepest water you have access to is 5-6ft. Crayfish were active so baits were getting destroyed so come prepared for this. The quality of the fish were great and they fight hard. The hosts are great too. They leave you to fish and check-in every other day to make sure you’re ok. The only thing I’d say is that a platform on the peg would be better. The bank on peg 6 is far too shallow to land fish or put a bait boat into the water without causing damage. You almost have to get into the water everytime, which was OK for me but not ideal.

Details of your catches:

My wife Kathryn had a new pb, 54lb common, I had a 43lb common, and a pb 61lb sturgeon. Kathryn had 6 carp, and lost 2 and lost a massive sturgeon, I had 5 carp and 1 sturgeon, and lost 3 to hook pulls

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

DNA S7 & SLK boilies, lake pellet, and hemp/maize mix in a bait boat, SLK or S7 hard hookers, and mainline morrocan spice pop ups, or DNA baits PB pop up, fished snowman style, lead clip and 8'' coated braid hooklink to a size 4 ridgemonkey curve

Were the facilities what you expected?

We have been here before, so knew what to expect, sadly, nothing has changed in the 6 years since our last visit, still 1 small toilet, and a shower that's a bit lacking considering there could be up to 10 anglers, lucky for us that we were in our motorhome, so had our own facilities.

Were you happy with them?

Not really, definitely need a 2nd shower and toilet. The fridge and freezer were adequate

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, as the lake has some excellent fish, although id prefer if there were also some catfish, just my personal opinion, as they're not everyone's cup of tea

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

I would like to say thank to Cyril, there was a tree down in swim 10, making it unfishable, but he turned up Mon morning and took care of it, he also booked us our vets appointment for our dogs worming treatment. We did have a hornets nest to the left side of our swim(8), although we were assured that it wasn't dangerous, I'm allergic, so had a few issues, particularly at night, where the hornets were attracted to the headlamps.

General Comments:

Big problem with crayfish in lake. You think you have a take but it's crayfish sometimes tested this out in shallow water where I could see the bait *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the crayfish were so active on your week, this is often worst in the hottest months.
