Details of your catches:

6 fish between us in very tough conditions blowing north easterly most of the week with cold changeable weather not very spring like! x1 41lber common biggest of the week x1 33.5lb common x1 24lb common x1 22.5lb common x1 19lb mirror x1 17lb common

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Finding the shelves! The weed was high due to the cold weather which tends to die out during sunnier times so finding spots was difficult. You need a very good sonar like an RT4 and GPS to find the contours of the lake and clear spots essential if you want any success. Fishing with at least 3-4kg on each spot with boilie, maize and pellet chops/halves/crumb as gully’s can be steep. BIG LEADS!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities whilst basic were enough for what we needed.

Were you happy with them?

On arrival to the lake the grass was very long and uncut, the cabin was dirty with muddy footprints and toilet paper on the floor. At first impression wasn’t too impressed but it was cleaned and grass cut during the week which made it look more of a holiday venue.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes I would. It’s not an easy lake and finding the spots is tricky especially during April weather but with the stock of fish and sizes hit the right areas and you could have some serious PBs on your hands! Mark the bailiff is a great guy really friendly, welcoming and funny he knows his stuff.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes always, Angling Lines has been great in the past and will continue to use you.

General Comments:

In all honesty the April weather we had was awful, that’s fishing in spring time it’s hit and miss. Personally I’d go in the summer when it’s gin clear fish on the move and as always they respond to the consistent weather conditions with a good south westerly. It’s a beautiful lake and I can imagine in the summer you would have an amazing trip.

Sweet corn over chopped boilies

Were the facilities what you expected?

Basic but ok for a drive and survive

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes definitely, the fish are absolutely stunning

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes as always, really good service

General Comments:

The fish in this lake are stunning and the rewards are there to be had. There was 6 of us fishing but 3 anglers blanked, one had 1 fish 1 had 3 fish and the other had 22 fish. This is not the easiest water and if you looking for a runs water this is not for you. But the fish speak for themselves as they all look like old English fish, it’s definitely more for the experience angler that likes a challenge. Overall a good trip, credit to Mark and his lakes.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Sticking to 3 spots. Filling the bait boat up with lake pellets, a scoop of maize and a scoop chopped boilies. Refresh the spots at least twice a day.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, they were what I expected. New charging facilities and steps from the swim to water made landing fish easier.

Were you happy with them?

Yes.

General Comments:

Mark knows the venue very well and spots to start with. He is based here si has knowledge of how the lake fishes in different conditions. The lake is set in a lovely quiet area with lots of wild life. Only 15 minutes to the local town which has all you need. Lake pellet, maize and plum boilies worked a treat.
