Regarding road closures, we would suggest to anyone travelling long distance to check their chosen route before leaving, but still anticipate that things may change en-route. If you’ve chosen to drive down from Calais, make sure to leave yourselves plenty of time and include scheduled breaks along the way. Route times shown on-line are only a guide. It is possible to pay for road tolls in advance online before leaving the UK; you can then avoid the queues using the fast track lanes. It is also possible to avoid the tolls but make sure to allow for additional fuel costs and bear in mind this may considerably increase your journey time. Google maps is your friend (other satnavs are available ;) ). It shows where any scheduled roadworks are going on and any recent RTA’s, and should show you the best routes around them. Whilst we appreciate that for some, the journey down is as much a part of the trip as making bacon butties bankside, but if the thought of such a long car ride fills you with dread, we would suggest considering one of the closer ports for your travel here. We are only an hour and a half drive away from Saint Malo. Tight lines & happy travelling!

General Comments:

Lovely venue, our hosts Lee & Tracy were really friendly & helpful with useful tips, accommodation was perfect although we spent most of our time in bivvies down at the lake, fishing was difficult at times but the rewards are there if you persevere.
