Details of your catches:
My Son and I fished 3 rods between us for the week. Mainly fishing off the left hand margins between 2 rod lengths out and as far as the central channel between the two over hanging willow trees. We fished a morning session had a break for a swim and lunch and then an afternoon evening session with a swim and dinner in between. We caught 28 fish over the week, 10 Mirror Carp the biggest at 28lb. 3 Common carp the biggest at 24lb. And, 15 Grass Carp the biggest at 25lb. All fish caught on double Krill 20mm boilies by Sticky baits provided by Gilles the owner.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
We had heard about Possion Chat problems so spent the first day trying all sorts; single 20mm, toppers, zigs, plastics, boilie wraps and almost everything attracted Chats, but we ended up on double 20mm Krill and netted 8 carp. On Day 2, I extended the hair on all my rigs and settled on double 20mm boilie. This slowed the Chats and a re-cast every 45 mins or so seemed to allow the Carp to get involved. I'm not sure Boilie Wraps would stop the Chats from hooking themselves so its a case of finding something that works bait wise / tactic wise to just limit the nuisance. We dried shelf life boilies in the sun to harden them a bit and also kept them on the hair a little longer. Take forceps or a multi-tool with pliers for the Chats - dont handle them if poss as the have sharp spines and it hurts.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Super facilities, the house is great with a full kitchen of utensils to cook up anything you want. We didn't use the BBQ as there was just the 2 of us. The swimming pool is brilliant and the gardens are huge. The veranda and outdoor area by the lake allows you to pretty much spend the whole day outside. The Kitchen is on the lower floor accessible by steps outside the building either side or through the house itself. The Carrefour in Laroque Timbaut is less than a 10 mins drive away and bigger supermarkets closer to some of the bigger towns about 30 mins away. Very comfy sleep even on hot July nights, a double bed on the lower floor, 2 singles on the lake floor and a loft area with a double and single with window looking out to the lake. There isn't a huge inside living area to spend a lot of time inside however the kitchen has a big table and there is an additional external seating area outside the kitchen and at the pool.

General Comments:
Went to the Lotus Lake for a quiet holiday with the family and a bit of fishing. Family loved the cottage, pool and sun of Southern France, fishing was a bonus. Poisson Chat and grass carp were a little out of control but the lake owners gave us free bait to feed them off so couldn't really complain. *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. The owners have now removed many grass carp and are also actively managing the poisson chat. Finally they have added a few larger carp to the lake. We believe that this will improve catch reports.

Details of your catches:
We caught fish every day. Weather was hot and sunny but a couple of nights we had storms which stirred things up a bit with the fish. In the main we caught grass carp, some mirror and common carp. The challenges were: the lake is full of crayfish, small nuisance catfish and poisson chat. Accordingly, we were constantly putting out bait and rebaiting! There are a few snags in the lake too.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
We used boilies, sweetcorn, tiger nuts, also trout pellets.
Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities were nice.
Were you happy with them?
Yes.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes for a peaceful week's holiday. The pool is lovely, especially in the south of France heat! It was also located in a tranquil location yet just a 5 minute drive to the nearest village (Laroque Timbaut) which had lots of amenities such as a fabulous boulangerie, a church and a good supermarket and cafes and restauruants. This was nice for both my husband and I to take a little time out from fishing too. The drive from the UK is a long drive as it is close to the Toulouse region but worth it if you want the weather. It was straightforward and easy to find. The people in that region were very nice and very friendly.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes, all in all very smooth booking procedure with Angling Lines and the hosts Gilles and Sharon were most accommodating. Very nice and good people.
