41 carp, including 6 40’s, best 43lb 5oz, this was despite major tree work being undertaken during the week. Peg 1, 9 fish including 2 x 39lb. Peg 2 (two anglers) 23 fish, including 6x 40’s. Peg 3 9 fish, best 35lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Find a hard spot and feed it, these were generally 60-70 yards out. Simple rigs worked well. Carp Company Icelandic Red, why would you use anything else. Caught a few Bream, and there was some crayfish activity, but nothing horrendous.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, food package was good, Joanne was excellent, lovely lady. Bathroom, clean functional and plenty of hot water.

Were you happy with them?

Yes very.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

If there was one thing I would do with the lake, I would develop a swim on the bottom bank.

open water tactics were the most productive of the week as opposed to the far bank.

Were the facilities what you expected?

facilities were as expected, cabin had all necessary comforts for anglers for a week, nice touch with the English plugs in the cabin (saved converting plugs etc)

Were you happy with them?

happy with the facilities, shower was good, toilet block was always clean and cabin was well equipt.

Yes most certainly - the week would of been much more productive with cooler weather and less angler pressure.

General Comments:

AL confirmed a few weeks pre trip that the lake had been reduced to a 5 angler lake due to the rope on peg 3 - we found this to be of no concern to us, we comfortably fished 3 rods each in all 3 swims with plenty of room to move rods around etc - please do not be put off by this notification (it is almost harsh to have had it reduced down to 5) - that being said from the catch reports on site - the lake would fish most productively with 3-4 anglers to allow the fish to be less pressured and not hold up in the out of bounds channel running around the side of the water to peg 3. (Suggestion that this should be blocked off to allow the fish to hold up in the lake not the out of bounds).

Swims would possibly be better if the decking came all the way back to lake bank doing away with walkways

General Comments:

Not enough casting room on pegs 1 and 2 which resulted in a broken rod for one angler, general maintenance needs to be carried out on pegs and lake. Loads of under water snags need removing. Fish need removing from out of bounds area and and out of bounds area needs closing off as I would estimate a quarter of the lakes stock is here. *Owners note* Thank you for your feedback. Concerning the first swim I have now cut the bushes on both sides. And I will do it further this week as I was asked by the anglers. Concerning the second swim, I think the issue you had was with the rope I have put towards where the swim narrows at the back walkway to prevent anglers from falling in the water (it is an easy miss-step to make). The angler who is fishing there this week told me there was no problem for him. This being said I will try to find a solution to get rid of the ropes so they can not be caught when casting and still prevent the anglers from falling. I will have to wait till the end of the season to get rid of remaining snags that are behind the rope.
