Details of your catches:

Between the 2 of us we only managed 12 fish with the biggest being a 28.5lb mirror. We was plagued by tiny chat/crays constantly throughout our time there, which was so frustrating.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing to the far bank and the fountain produced the majority of the fish! Shrink wrapped baits are a must because of the poison chat. Stiff rigs are best to help avoid coming back in tangled because of the chat/crayfish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were great!

Were you happy with them?

Yes was really happy with them, everything you need and more!

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Fishing was slow and really hard work but that was to be expected as it was really high pressure and it was 40+ degrees.

Details of your catches:

We caught around 50 fish, although 45 were grass carp (11lb-28lb). Biggest was a mirror mid thirties.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing to the far margins, sometimes you get a bite before you can put the rod on the alarm. We even had 3 fish at once!

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, beautiful setting and an amazing outside socialising area. Perfect.

Were you happy with them?

100%

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, we are already planning our next trip!

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes definitely

General Comments:

Thanks to Sharon and Gilles for a very welcoming trip. Beautiful house that had everything. We all had a very much needed relaxing trip! Missing it already.

Details of your catches:

We caught a lot of fish as this is an easy water. Biggest was 41lb. Lots of Grass Carp. I think the claim of a 53lb should be taken off the website as I couldn't find record of it being caught. The fish were underweight for their length. Mostly in the 20's but fun to catch. Big problem was the poisson chat. A real nuisance that even devoured baits through the shrink wrap. *Angling Lines note* We review the lake record sizes every two years and sizes do fluctuate, particularly during Covid when no anglers were on the bank. We will continue to monitor.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fishing to the far bank. Bottom baits, large, not snowman. Fish caught often within minutes of a bait dropping before the poisson chat got stuck in.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes. A bit worn but a great location.

Were you happy with them?

They were OK

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes apart from the owners who were the most unfriendly and unhelpful people I have ever met running an angling facility.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Angling Lines are always great.

General Comments:

Not sure where some of the previous comments came from describing the owners in a positive light. They were not interested in us at all apart from being very concerned about the money side. They were rude about previous anglers and seemed to expect us to leave everything fully cleaned. They complained we had not put the sun loungers exactly back to the place they were when we arrived for example. They need lessons in customer service! *Owners note* We don’t believe this feedback is deserved or that we give this impression given the rest of the excellent feedback we have received over the years. Without going into details we did have a disagreement with this party over the venue rules and are saddened to see that it has meant this feedback in return.

Details of your catches:

We had 41 fish between 4 anglers over the week. Just fishing days. Mostly mirrors, a few grass carp and a couple of commons.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Basic rigs with 20mm boilies, fishing the gravel bed on the far bank produced the most fish.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, the facilities were excellent.

Were you happy with them?

Very happy with the facilities.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes. Would be ideal for a couple of families, or a group with their own rooms. Cooking facilities were great, we mostly barbecued because the weather was so good, but kitchen had everything.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes. Giles and Laurie were really helpful with where to fish and Sharon had all the other stuff covered. Rods and reels we hired were good quality.

General Comments:

Great trip. Definitely needed the shrink wrap as the weather got really hot during the week which meant the poisson chat livened up.
