Overview
Welcome to Sierra Brava Dreams – guided fishing trips with Jake Langley-Hobbs at the epic venue Sierra Brava, located in the breathtaking Extremadura region of Spain.
In March 2011 Jake Langley-Hobbs launched his own guiding service in the Extremadura region of Spain specialising in carp fishing trips at Sierra Brava. Sierra Brava is just one of many big lakes in this region but Jake has chosen Sierra Brava because it is a perfect venue for newcomers to big public water carp fishing.
“With a big head of carp present everyone has a chance of catching, and, as with all public lakes, there is always that exciting unknown factor as to what is on your hook! I fell in love with Sierra Brava the first time I clapped eyes on the place. It's wild, exciting, filled with carp, and offers many different styles of fishing for anglers. I guess I could have chosen a number of waters in Europe for my dream, but Sierra Brava is one of those lakes that will just get better and better; it has a great future.
The obvious challenge for myself is to catch the big fish and I know they will slip up eventually. Sierra Brava is not one of those places where every fish is a thirty or a forty, and that is why I like the lake so much. When you catch a big carp you feel like you have truly earned it, whilst the smaller fish can keep you entertained and on your toes. This is public water fishing at its best... the scenery is out of this world, the fish fight like you would not believe, and together with my experience, and five star services, you can be guaranteed of an adventure from start to finish.I hope that we see you at Sierra Brava very soon! Cheers, Jake”
All carp anglers with the sense for adventure are invited to come and sample the great fishing on offer, with the chance of catching big public water carp, whilst being guided, and catered for, by Jake himself. Full details and a wealth of information can be found on this website to help you choose the right package for you and your fishing friends. Intent on providing a quality service, Jake is only taking a maximum of four anglers in any one booking. Imagine fishing using the latest equipment available, carefully chosen bait, combined with superb food and facilities, plus Jake’s experience in fishing; it can only guarantee a memorable adventure from start to finish.
Offering trips from three - fourteen days, Jake will be with you every step of the way, together with his friendly dog, Flash, for company. Sierra Brava is the perfect venue for newcomers to large public water fishing, offering everything you could want, from a fishing holiday with a difference.

The Carp Lake
Sierra Brava lies in the Extremadura region of Spain. It's about a 3 hour drive from Madrid, with the majority of the journey being by motorway.
Sierra Brava is a man-made lake of approximately 2500 hectares and quite young compared to some other lakes in the region. The lake is a reservoir and the levels can vary depending on the time of year. It’s a true carp angler’s water – with some truly exceptional and wild carp, swimming in its depths. If you are an angler with the sense for adventure, then Sierra Brava Dreams is perfect for you and your friends.
“Thank you for the best carp fishing experience Marcellus and I ever had. Your writing about our stay describes exactly what we hoped for, and of course we will be there next year, with new skills, so you can probably sleep more at night than you did this time! Wish you all the best, Bjorn and Marcellus"
Sierra Brava is big, wild, public water. When the lake was formed, as a reservoir, many trees were cut down before the area was flooded. Many trees still remain though, which gives Sierra Brava its unique look. These trees are Spanish Oak trees and they are an obvious feature to fish to. The bottom can be snaggy in places with jagged rocks and trees, or stumps, so shock leaders are always advisable.
The margins are one of my favourite places to target, especially during the hours of darkness. Casting further out in the daytime can often produce a bite as the carp tend to move out to deeper water during the day.

The lake known as Sierra Brava, in the Extremadura region of Spain, is home to some awesome carp, big numbers of them, and some huge examples too. The majority of these carp are the common carp, but the mirror carp are swimming in Brava too, and although the commons outdo them in the numbers game, the mirrors more than make up for them in the looks department - the mirror carp are out of this world!
You don’t have to worry too much about line-wary, rig-shy, hook-shy carp; or fish that have seen it all before. The carp in Sierra Brava tend to shoal up in numbers and they are nomadic and constantly moving.
There are crayfish when it’s hot but they are not that problematic; and as far as other nuisance species go – there are none! By all means bring some mesh or other form of boilie protection in the summer months, but apart from that, you can sit back and wait for a carp take – no bream here!
Therefore small baits work well, bright pop-ups are always a good bet, and tiger nuts and particles do work very well, when boilies aren’t getting action. Spod mixes can be very effective if you keep things accurate, and keep the swim topped up regularly.

I am based in a charming rural village known as Zorita which is within sight of Sierra Brava - it is the perfect location for this venue.
Zorita is charming and civilised & if you need to stay at my house on your first or last night, you will usually be able to find most things you may need in Zorita. I have marked maps of Zorita in my house to help you.Whether you have forgotten sun cream, which can be obtained from the local Pharmacy, or you may want to take some extra provisions with you whilst fishing, bought from one of the local grocers, or you just simply want to relax in one of the many bars and restaurants – Zorita has plenty to offer.
I obtain fishing licenses from Toni’s Coffee House who serves awakening Spanish coffee and traditional donuts, and I also fully support and recommend El Parador, a friendly and warm, family run restaurant, on the main entrance to Zorita from Madrilego. My house is a minutes walk from the plaza, where on Monday's the local market traders pitch their stalls. If you want to pray to the carp gods the church is within a stones throw of my house, where at night it's beautifully lit up.
Once you're ready & settled then its off to the lake to begin your Sierra Brava session. Jake has put together a set of tackle for each client that any angler would be proud to own. He has deliberately chosen each item for use at Sierra Brava; from the type of rod, right through to the choice of unhooking mat.
“I didn’t just buy carp fishing tackle. I bought specific items and researched into what suited Sierra Brava best. I think my decisions will certainly help put more carp on the bank, and see more carp returned safely, the way they were caught.”
Jake wants to keep you on the bank for your holiday so he has “gone to town” creating an awesome trailer that boasts a gas fridge for client’s drinks, a kitchen so Jake can cook your food, and his unique selling point – a hot shower and chemical toilet are provided.
"The alternative was driving clients back to my base for a shower which would mean less time on the bank, and more importantly – missed chances of catching a fish of a lifetime. Everything is provided for you meaning you just fish and relax for your entire holiday."

Meals
Three meals a day are served from Jake’s trailer and fortunately your guide is also a brilliant chef. All the food is freshly prepared and Jake prides himself on catering to client’s specific needs or requests.
Click here to see the menu at Sierra Brava Dreams.
The food is included in the package price.
Jake will find out your drink requests before you arrive in Spain, and these will be ready when you arrive. Water, beer, coke etc are all supplied to your own requirements, and all are priced at 50 cents. Jake isn’t interested in making money out of your drinks, as in his eyes, you have already paid for your holiday. You can keep these chilled in the gas fridge in Jake’s trailer.
Carp Bait
I am supplying two recognised bait brands to my customers which are Quest from England, and Vital from Spain. Both brands are equally effective and with my carefully considered choice of two boilies and accessories from each company, I can give you the most suitable bait for the time of year, at a price to suit all pockets.
Bait prices;
- Quest 5kg – 60€
- Vitalbaits 5kg – 50€
I will also supply pellet, tigers, hemp, and my own Sierra Brava spod mix.
Anglers need to bring terminal tackle with them including markers and spods. Marker and spod rods are supplied; however, I will sell Spombs and marker floats.
