Overview
You can expect some seriously arm aching action from hard fighting carp here, with the biggest carp going to over 67lb. This is also one of the prettiest French gravel pits you can imagine and can be hired as a lake exclusive or on an individual basis.
A maximum of 8 anglers (10 if booked exclusively) have the choice of 11 swims; 10 of these being big doubles, so mates can be very sociable but without feeling hemmed in. All have easy access via car and you're welcome to park behind your swim for the week, making it ideal for those with campers too.
Lined with trees and wide grassy borders, the lake has a lovely shape and a large variety of features - small bays, open water and various gravel bars. The crystal clear water in the sunshine gives the lake its name.
The lake was originally stocked in the 1980's and then abandoned and left to its own devices until it was re-discovered by Sebastien Vasseur in 2011. Sebastien has hand-picked the carp that have gone in ever since and it has a good mix of scaley mirrors and commons - both now reaching over 60lb. It can still throw up some big surprises including a huge catfish, which many have tried but failed to get to the bank, so if you're after this one, go prepared!
You will find Blue Lake south west of Paris between Normandy and the Loire Valley, just one hour from Paris by car. There are excellent road links to the major Channel ports - Caen is just 2½ hours away and Calais only 4 hours.
