*New for 2020*

Introducing Lepinet simply one of the best lakes for carp fishing in France, Lepinet is a stunningly beautiful lake with a superb stock of big carp.

We have had various groups out at the lake this summer and the catch reports have been nothing short of exceptional, one week saw 20 x 40lb+ carp to a group of five anglers and 2 x 50's on the bank. A Sturgeon of around 160lb, has also graced the banks.

Lepinet is a mature 34 acre lake, and for booking purposes is split into two venues - Lepinet North and Lepinet South, each covering 17 acres of water. A floating boom across the centre of the lake defines each half and marks the furthest point to which you can cast from your side. The carp of course move freely across the whole of the lake, as there is no hindrance below the surface.

Lepinet North has six well spaced swims - two singles and four doubles - with plenty of water for a maximum of 10 anglers when booked exclusively for your group and a maximum of 7 anglers when booked non-exclusive (so as to allow space to move around if you wish).

You can prebook swims individually or for groups of 6-10 you will find that it is well priced to book the venue exclusively. For larger groups of up to 20 anglers, it is possible to hire the whole of Lepinet lake (both North and South).

The venue is an easy 3hr 15 drive from the port of Le Harve and 4hr 30 from Calais. It is owned by Sebastien Vasseur whose other venue, the incredibly popular Blue Lake, has been on our books for many years now. Lepinet is a real gem for those serious about their carp fishing in France.

Carp fishing in France at Lepinet North

The whole lake is 34 acres, each half therefore being around 17 acres. Very few snags, little weed and with well spaced swims, this lake provides plenty of features and open water giving plenty of options for anglers. We don't believe there is a single swim that you wouldn't be happy to fish!

The lake depth varies from around 1-4 metres, averaging at around 3 metres.

There is good vehicle access to get your tackle to your swim. Swims 6, 7, 9 and 11 also have space for a caravan or campervan.

The lake bottom is a mixture of sand, gravel and clay spots - many carp are caught midwater but don't forget the overhanging margins too. It's well worth taking a little time to explore the options in your swim at the beginning of the week and then reap the rewards.

The use of a boat or baitboat is a definite advantage on a lake of this size -  depending on the swim the casting distance to the middle can be from 90m to 160m.

The floating boom across the centre of the lake gives a great guide for each swim as to their boundaries. Check out the lake map on the photos section here for a good idea of the layout.

There are no poisson chat or other nuisance species to our knowledge. The lake does contain some crayfish, but these have not caused any issues for our anglers - we recommend taking the usual preventative measures if going carp fishing in France in the warmer months when they may be more active.

A 53lb Carp from Lepinet North

Dug in the 1970's this lake has seen a steady and healthy growth of the carp. The original stocks were around 200, which over the past 30 years has seen additions, until today when the stocks lie between 500 and 600 in total.

The average weights from catch reports so far show a high level of 40's and 30's and the 50's are not shy either.

The biggest carp caught so far is around 57lb.

Sebastien the owner will be adding a further 120 carp from mid 20's to high 40's in late 2019. Taking the total stock to around 700.

There is a good balance of beautifully scaled mirrors and commons, some decent grass carp, a couple of huge sturgeon (with one estimated at 160lb+) and a few stunning koi.

Facilities at Lepinet North

For the 2020 season, Sebastien has invested heavily into new facilities at the lake, which are shared between anglers from both Lepinet North and South. New toilets and showers are currently being installed and two separate lockable rooms will be created (one for each half of the lake). These will each contain charging facilities and also fridge/freezers for food and large chest freezers for your bait.

There are currently no boats on site for anglers use. In 2020 there will be two boats available with a life jacket supplied, but you might want to consider bringing your own boats to secure use as and when you want.  Bait boats are a real aid on this venue as casting to the middle could be 160m

The lake, whilst tranquil, is only a few minutes drive from supermarkets and other amenities.

Bait is available to purchase on-site.  If you have any questions regarding bait, or wish to place an order, please contact the owner direct. Their Email address & phone number can be found on the 'Info Pack' in your Customer Area once your holiday is booked.

Anglers can bring their own particles if it's branded prepared. Maize can be purchased at the lake, anglers just need to let Sebastien know on arrival.

  • Prepared maize - 10€ / 5kg
  • Carp pellets (9mm) - 50€ / 25kg

Please note;
Bait orders are made directly between you and the lake owner.  We (Angling Lines) cannot be held responsible for any problems that may subsequently arise.  If you order bait to be waiting for you when you arrive we strongly recommend you telephone or Email the owner a few days before your arrival to make sure it will be there for you.  In 99% of cases this will just be purely precautionary, but bait is such an important part of your holiday that it’s only sensible to take every step to avoid problem
