Carp Fishing in France Lakes: Frequently Asked Questions

An exclusive lake is hired privately for your group only, so you have the whole water to yourselves for the week. Non-exclusive is where the lake can be shared with other booked anglers (although, depending on your group size, you can of course book the whole lake too if you wish). Both are fully vetted and bookable through our search filters.

If you're looking to book your first fishing trip to France then we generally recommend lakes which have proven consistent catch rates and a larger head of stock, so there's less waiting between bites - our runs water carp lakes are perfect for this. Experienced anglers chasing a personal best often head for lower-stock, big-carp waters where 60lb+ carp are realistic but runs are less frequent. If you need help narrowing these venues down, give us a call and we'll point you toward the right venues based on your requirements.

Most venues fish well from March through October, with Spring and Autumn typically the most popular seasons among our anglers, though weather can affect any water at any time of year. Read our full seasonal guide for a month-by-month breakdown.

Many of our anglers book around a year ahead to secure their favourite venue and preferred dates, especially for peak months (April and September). That said, don't rule it out if you're planning last-minute - cancellations and date changes mean great availability can open up on top venues with as little as a month's notice, so it's always worth checking or giving us a call.

We have venues to suit every budget. At the more affordable end you'll find simple, back-to-basics lakes where the fishing quality is never compromised - you're just paying for less in the way of extras. For example, Grandes Cimes and Villefond are great lakes at cheaper prices. At the other end, we offer real luxury venues with high-end lakeside accommodation, swimming pools and on-site facilities. Wherever you sit on that spectrum, all our lakes are vetted to the same standard, so a budget booking never means budget fishing. Use our filters to search by facilities and accommodation type to find the right balance of comfort and cost for your group.

Of course. With so many venues to choose from it's easy to feel spoilt for choice, so read the angler reviews - all genuine, unedited feedback - and also give our team a call. We know every lake and can talk you through the options until you find the right fit.
