Weather at Vincons

Overview

Ever wondered how you can keep your family happy on holiday and still catch carp?  What better way to introduce your partner to carp angling than taking them to a pretty French venue, or perhaps you would like some all action carping with your mates where everyone gets in on the thrills?   Vincon has all the answers.  It really is the carp water with everything.

This beautiful spring fed 12 acre lake is available for exclusive booking for up to six anglers and is literally stuffed full with carp.  The scaly mirrors and commons are absolute stunners and most guests catch more fish than they ever thought possible.  Arm aching action is the norm here!  Add a swimming pool and ivy covered fishing lodge where you can literally fish out of the front door, or for those craving more luxurious surroundings a gite just five minutes walk away. Set all this on a working farm in one of the loveliest regions of central France and you can see why Vinçons has been one of our most popular destinations offering carp fishing in France with accommodation since 2001.

With a week at your disposal you can take break away from the frantic action, chill out and soak up the atmosphere of rural French life.  The very picturesque town of Bourges is only 60km away, and rustic villages are literally minutes from the lake making Vincons the perfect holiday venue.

You will be warmly greeted by the Bouchot family who grow cereal and breed wild boar here.  Vincons lies in the very picturesque region of the Cher, and takes around 5 hours to reach from Calais by car. This venue was discovered by us and had never been available for fishing before.  

Stafford Patmore and 4 mates fished Vincons in May 2011 and had a staggering catch of 239 carp for 4,410lb – that’s over 2 tonnes of carp! There were 89 x 20lb plus and Stafford’s best day saw him catch 20 carp for 406lb! We told you there were lots of carp here! Here’s what he had to say;

Vincons is available for exclusive bookings and includes the on-site accommodation. It’s a venue that would ideally suit the discerning family angler looking for true peace and quiet... or a group of friends looking for plenty of carping action.

The Carp Lake

The 12 acre lake was created in 1965 to assist with irrigation on the farm and been left completely natural. 

We suggest a maximum of 4 to 6 anglers, since although it is 12 acres in size it’s so natural that there are relatively few fishable swims.  

Please note that it is not possible to walk all the way around the lake since around 20% is inaccessible.

A little work with a marker float will soon locate clay and gravel areas, feed them lightly and regularly and the carp will just keep coming.

The Carp

The first serious fishing session in July 2001 saw three anglers catch 186 carp in just one week... and believe us it hasn't slowed down since! 

The lake was stocked in 1991 with 600 carp - these fish have been left to grow and breed naturally and had never been fished for until 2001. Stocked equally with common and mirror carp, the fish have thrived in this very rich environment and successful spawning has lead to a very impressive head of fish indeed.

This really is an action packed water with takes coming all the time - thirty fish in one day is not uncommon! The carp are still relatively "naive" so there's no need for sophisticated tactics - simple hair-rigged boilies are quite sufficient.

The average carp is in the 18 - 24lb bracket but there are lots of fish in the high 20’s too... the largest fish to date has been 32lb. They must rate amongst the hardest fighting fish we have ever caught – they just don’t know when to give up!

The Facilities

Vincons offers 2 choices of accommodation – the lodge at the lakeside and a fully renovated cottage 5 minutes walk away.

The Lakeside Lodge;

The small lodge sits right on the lakeside – you can  literally fish from the front door!  It’s covered in ivy and completely blends into its surroundings. The open plan accommodation is equipped with two double bed settees, a compact kitchen which includes a cooker, fridge and sink unit. Toilet and shower facilities are approximately 100m away.

The Cottage;

The cottage was fully renovated in 2005 and is just a 5 minute walk down the farm drive. It’s been completed to a very high standard and offers all modern conveniences but still retains traditional French rustic charm. It has 2 bedrooms (plus additional sleeping for 2 on the open mezzanine area if required), 2 shower rooms, utility area including washing machine, kitchen, dining room and separate lounge area with TV (French TV only – sorry!). Amongst several interesting features are the original bread ovens, spiral staircase and log fires.

The Swimming Pool;

Constructed in 2003, the swimming pool is available for your exclusive use between July and September 15th, other than at certain times of the week when the family reserve it for their own use - these times are very short and are published at the lake. It’s sited around 100m from the lake, but does not disturb the fishing in any way.

Carp Bait

This venue stocks Quest Baits. To order bait please contact the owners direct.  Their Email address & phone number can be found on the directions sheet which will be sent to you when your holiday has been paid for in full.  They are French but speak good English, so providing you speak slowly & clearly you’ll have no problems. 

Please pay for the bait in Euros when you arrive.  Please note; the Euro to £ sterling exchange rate can fluctuate throughout the year. 

Boilies;

• Quest Special Crab, Fruity Trifle, Rahja Spice.  Shelf-Life, 18mm.  1kg bags.
• Prices as per Quest  price list.

Please note; Bait orders are made directly between you and the lake owner and/or Quest Baits.  We (Angling Lines) cannot be held responsible for any problems that may subsequently arise.  If you order bait to be waiting for you when you arrive we strongly recommend you telephone or Email the owner a few days before your arrival to make sure it will be there for you.  In 99% of cases this will just be purely precautionary, but bait is such an important part of your holiday that it’s only sensible to take every step to avoid problems.

Visit this lake 2 (or more) times in the same calendar year & get a 10% discount on the return visits!
