Details of your catches:
34 carp, a mix of mirrors and original commons. Best mirrors 41 lb 4 oz and 43 lb 13 oz which came early in the week - first in the evening and second when I got up and started the next morning! Three high 30s, 32 lb common, many 20s. Just a couple of grass carp to 14 lb 10 oz. A few other species including a zander on small deadbait.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Simple stuff – I’m no ultracult carper! Most fish to Dynamite Crave 20mm boilies with a regular scattering of boilies or pellets, with simple 3 oz leads on safety clips and standard English carp gear. One fish, just under 30 lb, took a scrap of boilie under a pole float on light gear down the edge – that arm-aching battle was a lesson to step up. Even had a 36 on raw garlic!! Breakfast time and evening were good, but odd fish came at other times. I didn’t try at night, but with temperatures in the mid-30s it may have been the most productive time.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Better than expected – very well equipped, clean and tidy. Carefully kept property and lakes.
Were you happy with them?
Yes, totally!

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes, and have done already.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes, very efficient in arranging booking details and answering queries.

General Comments:
I spent a lot of time looking for a place like this for a chilled getaway with the other half. Mas Bas really did fit the bill. It’s tucked down in a picturesque setting, away from it all, with lots going for it. I’m amazed me and my good lady were only the second people to stay here so far this season. We didn’t want to come home! Maybe the long drive puts people off (it’s the most southerly Angling Lines venue), but it’s worth it. The fishing action’s very good, there are plenty of chunky hard-fighting carp to just over 50, plus some other species if you seek a bit of variety. We hardly moved from the house and swimming pool/BBQ area but there are interesting swims to mooch around (or row the boat around), plus places to visit locally (by car) to ensure a happy holiday for couples, groups or families including non-anglers. The two slightly smaller properties on site, with frontage on Lotus Lake, looked cosy. Owner Gilles speaks English and knows his fishing (including the River Lot if you fancy a go), and his partner Sharon is English. They’re lovely people – help/advice is not far away if you need it, but they’ll leave you in peace so you’ll have the freedom to do what you want. I’ve just written a blog for the Angler’s Mail website (I’m the editor) if you want to read more. If you’re wondering, I did pay for my holiday!

Details of your catches:
Only two fishing for the two weeks we were in the main house. One fished at night, not all of them, and the other only fish daylight hours. We didn't fish for three days as we went on day trips out. 3 x 40+ all mirrors best being a 42.08. 9 x 30+ best being 37.10. All mirrors and one common at 31.07. About 35 fish from 29-25lb, these really fight hard; then around 30 fish from 25-20lb. Then around 60 fish from 22-12lb mostly grass carp best being a 22.04. We didn't record all the fish as we had so many. My 8 year old son even managed a 25lb mirror and a 17lb grass carp, back to back, all played on his own. He just didn't have the strength to lift it for a Pic in the end. We lost about 10-15 fish over the two weeks.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
We had fish from open water in the silt / clay using PVA bags and fish from tight to the margins and over hanging trees and base of the island using little and often tactics. Only one of us fished at night and around 30 of my fish can between 11pm to 7am.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes. The main house is very comfortable with fishing on the door step as shown in the pictures of the house on the website. One thing missing from the advertised equipment was bikes. There are none so please update your site so clients are not disappointed. We didn't take ours with us as there were bikes listed as supplied. Not sure i will have made it up the hills mind you.
Were you happy with them?
Yes, apart from the bikes. With only two fishing out of our party of 7 we had lots of none anglers with us. They loved the setting and location of the house, as they just sat outside reading books and taking the odd walk around the lake. At night its so dark you can see loads of stars, loads more than we see at home. I even spotted three shooting stars over the two weeks I was sat on my bed chair. I've not seen one these for years back home.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Easy one, YES. It suited us all very nicely. 3 couples and 1 child with one spare single bed. The ground floor bedroom is massive with a walk in shower and it own WC. Two of the three top floor bed rooms have cracking views of the lake and the 3rd one is well suited to kids with the two single beds and a cot. The rooms are better in real life than the pictures online show. The top floor has a good size bathroom with Wc and second shower room with WC.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes. We were sorted out every time the booking kept changing due to drop outs and car changes. Good service.
General Comments:
The house, lake and swimming pool are all very nice and there locations to each other is perfect if your fishing or not. The house is the "bivvy" if you wish and i sleeped on the patio when doing nights just on my bed chair. The swimming pool is right on the door step and my 8 year old son loved it. A little cooler for the adults but after 2 mins its was nice to swim and mess about in. A really nice BBQ in on hand to use and outdoor eating was the norm most nights as there was hardly any bugs eating us at nights. The TV has rear Scart connections and our son loved having his playstation with him for films and games. We didn't pay for the WIFI as we all needed space from work and Facebook. The non fishing persons in our party loved the house and settings as much as the two fishing. I think they read 14 books between them over the two weeks. The drive to the house is the only down side to the venue, but if you want the weather then its easy to put up with as its around 450 miles from calais driving on easy french roads. I will have no issue with booking this venue again as it suited our party to a tee. We planned this trip in 2012 and once it finally came to going we were not disappointed. The venue is very good for a family holiday. The web site pictures do not show the main house off in its full light as its much better than it looks online once your there.
