Browsing Posts in Carp Fishing Sessions

With all this gloomy weather about we thought we’d point you to an article which we’ve just received from Rob Allen. He fished Villefond & had a cracking session back in the hazy days of summer. Here’s an extract from his article;

A few hours quickly passed with no sign of fish or takes so we decided use our Coleman’s and get dinner prepared, somehow, food always taste’s better when cooked on the bank! We set our rods up for the evening and settled down to an early night. I was looking forward to a full days fishing tomorrow to catch some of the stunning French carp. I was woken with a start by a one toner and excitedly set out to bring it in. It turned out to be a nice 32.8lb mirror, a great start and setting me up for what I hoped would be a cracking weeks fishing. Getting my rod back to the feeding spot, I sat back in my chair and watched the morning mist drift from the lake revealing some fish on the far side of the swim. Decision made I changed one of my rods to a shorter rig so I could get a good cast to where the fish were showing, I put on a fish meal boilie which I was using for the first time. My rod was back in for 5 minutes MAX and I couldn’t believe my ears, I was in again. It gave me a very good … you can read more here.

Top French carp angler Bruno Médou has just sent us a report from his latest trip to the central ‘Morvan’ region of France, and area rich in carp waters and renowned for the large fish that populate its waters.

The region is heavily forested with a large variety of pines, and as Bruno says it gives it a Canadian feel. The beauty of the setting contributed immensely of the pleasure of his trip.

Bruno had the good fortune to spend his trip on three different waters, which had never seen carp anglers before, and was fortunate to bank specimens on all three over the magical 15kg mark (33lb).

An accomplished photographer Bruno has sent us a series of beautiful photos. See Slideshow below:

A holiday fishing in France has never been easier arrange, you only have to take a quick look on the internet to see there is a large number of different venues offering a wide range of accommodation and food packages to chose from. These holidays range from the most basic “Drive & Survive” to the all inclusive food, accommodation some even offer bait and tackle, for the UK angler there has never been so much choice.

I have been a very keen carp angler for many years but have never fished anywhere but good old blighty. Having spent countless hours talking to fishing buddies about their French carping exploits I started to feel I was some how missing out, for me the time was right to stretch my legs and try fishing outside my comfort zone “Look out France here I come”.

I started my search for an appropriate French venue on my favourite UK carp fishing websites, one name kept coming out time and time again “Angling Lines”. The feedback I was getting talked about the clear and easy to navigate website, with lots of useful information you will need to get the best from your trip as well as a very comprehensive pricing menu.

I was able to find lots of useful information about a huge range of waters offered across France and Spain. From the Angling Lines web site “Our Holidays” page I was able to easily see the geographical position of each lake, this is important to help you get a feel for how far you are going to have to travel once you land in France. I was able to read helpful and comprehensive write ups of all of the lake including pictures and videos enabling you to get a good understanding of the venue you are considering.

UK Carp’s Steve Board beats the Winter blues by crossing the Channel for some Winter.

What a grueller I’ve had – a dire few weeks with not a single carp landed. Add to that the filthy weather and it was no fun at all being out on the bank. Clearly I needed a bit of therapy.

With this in mind I rang David Keep from Angling Lines holiday company and asked if he’d anywhere I could go for a short winter break.. “Oh yeah, and can you make it easy so even I can catch?”

Within five minutes he’d returned my call and said he’d got just the place – Cedars Lake, just south of Paris. He went on to explain that the lake was four acres, with around 200 fish to just touching forty, but the real bonus was the two double swims, each with their own lodge behind complete with cooking facilities, beds and power. Now this appealed to me. No roughing it on this trip, we’d be fishing in style. We booked the ferries – we’d leave early Friday and come back Monday evening, giving us three night’s fishing with the chance of a few.

Fishing Les Noyers in the Snow… they can be caught!
We arrived on the Sunday as usual and the lake looked in excellent condition… but our optimism had been tempered by the weather forecast. It was due to turn much colder with high pressure, northerly winds & possibly snow. So a good weeks fishing was looking more and more unlikely. My son, Finlay, set up in the Path Swim & myself in Roy’s, as both are sited close to the house. We decided to fish daylight hours only in view of the impending expected change in weather. continue reading…
