Interview with an Owner – Thomas at Carrouge Carp Lake

Our website features an outstanding collection of lakes, and each one is a credit to the dedicated people who run them. With this in mind, we spoke to Thomas, the owner of Carrouge Carp Lake, and asked him a few questions, to learn more about his journey.

1. When did you discover carp fishing and how did you come to be here at Carrouge?

I discovered carp fishing at the age of 13 on this very lake, which my grandfather managed at the time. Because I grew up around the water, I developed a real connection to the lake. Over time, that early experience turned into a true passion.

2. What’s the best and worst part of being the owner?

The best part of owning a lake is seeing anglers happy and fulfilled as they catch carp that we have watched grow and develop over the years. However, the worst part is finding a dead fish, especially when we’ve put so much effort into caring for them. Unfortunately, sometimes there’s nothing we can do to prevent it.

3. What would you say is the best feature of your lake?

Without hesitation, the best feature of the lake is the quality of the carp, and this is something I am extremely proud of.

4. When people arrive is there anything they are surprised by?

Many anglers are pleasantly surprised by the facilities lodge. In particular, they often don’t expect the level of quality available when they arrive. You can check out the facilities lodge here.

5. What is the most common mistake you see anglers make at your lake?

The most common mistake anglers make is not listening to the advice we give them. First hand knowledge and guidance can make a big difference.

6. Finally, what is the one most important piece of advice you’d give to anglers visiting your lake soon?

My best advice for customers is to take their time on the first day so they can properly observe the lake and find the right fishing areas. Being patient at the start often leads to much better results during the session.
