Grosley sur Risle is a well established and mature venue set in the Normandy countryside near Evreux. As its name suggests it lies in the Risle valley and is flanked by rolling hills and a railway line on its far bank – this does see some rail traffic, but nothing too intrusive. Before being turned into a carp fishery it was a leisure park so the facilities are very good. It’s now under new ownership having been recently purchased by Eric Touzé who is determined to create a first class carp fishery.

Grosley has 2 separate lakes, the Large Lake (around 25 acres) and the Small Lake (around 9 acres). Both lakes have good stocks of carp; the record in the Large Lake is 51lb and the Small Lake 40lb. Both lakes are well set out with wide, grassy swims and vehicle access is possible to most areas. There’s a good on-site restaurant and bar and a really useful feature is a number of wooden chalets which are dotted around the lakes and can be used as shelters for anglers and their tackle. Grosley has a secure perimeter and is closed at night.

Here’s some examples of feedback from 2009;

" Had a wonderful time and will be back for some more good times next year. "
Tommy Walker, June 2009

" Great fishing & Eric was the perfect host. The town was picture card gorgeous. Will hope to go back next May. Many thanks to all at Angling Lines. "
Vic Willmott, May 2009

The Large Lake
The Large Lake is around 25 acres with an island in the centre and 15 numbered swims around its perimeter, some of which are doubles. There are three chalets on the bankside, one to the rear of peg 7, one behind pegs 10 & 11 and the third behind peg 17. These chalets offer shelter to the anglers and their tackle and are large enough to set up a bedchair should the weather be poor. However, they are not accommodation standard so non-anglers expecting this would be disappointed. The bankside is grassy and tree lined with ample room to set up both rods and bivvies. Vehicle access is good around most of the lake and those swims not accessible by car are only a short walk from the nearest parking point.

The lake beds on both lakes are varied with soft silt and sand (containing plenty of natural food) plus granite and gravel bars, and the depths vary from 2.5m to 3m. The Large Lake contains the larger carp, with a good average size and a lake record that stands at 48lb. There’s a good head of carp over 30lb and into the forties.

The Small Lake
The Small Lake is not really that small at 9 acres! It’s fishable from three banks with four numbered swims. Overlooked by the restaurant this lake is ideal for exclusive bookings for up to 5 anglers... or possibly two smaller groups. It has a very large head of carp mostly in the 15-25lb bracket, but a recent stocking of fish in January 2008 consisting of mostly 30lb’ers up to 39lb should see it offer an excellent chance for a good fish too. The lake also has a small wooden chalet, similar to those on the large lake, to the rear of pegs 21 & 22.

Show me some more general photo's of the lake.

Grosley has excellent facilities including a very good bar & restaurant. It serves breakfast, lunch, evening meals and snacks, as well as a selection of wines, beer & soft drinks.

There are two toilet and shower blocks on the site, one near the restaurant and one at the end of the Large Lake to the rear of peg 10.

Planned to be in place before the start of the 2008 season is a small tackle shop selling bait (particles and boilies) and end tackle.

Finally there is a further small chalet near the entrance with a fridge and freezer which you are welcome to use to store food and bait.

Show me some photo's of the facilities.

The food package price is £90.

If you book the food package you will be asked to pay a 10% deposit to Angling Lines and the balance to the lake in Euros when you arrive. Please note that due to fluctuations in the exchange rate the balance you pay when you arrive may not equate exactly to the remaining 90% in £’s sterling – it may be slightly more or less due to a change in the exchange rate.

Also available from the restaurant throughout the day are;

American sandwiches, sausages and chips, cheeseburgers, toasties, waffles, crepes, & ice creams.

Fresh bread is available daily (please order the evening before).

These lakes are well established and in the past have been used for a number of water activities ranging from water skiing to fishing... so at the moment we do not have a completely accurate picture of the fish stocks. However, we do know that the Large Lake has a good head of carp of a decent stamp – take a look at the photo section to see that there were some lovely fish caught last year. The Large Lake record currently stands at 48lb and there is a fair head of back-up 40’s too.

The Small Lake has a stock of mostly 15 to 25lb fish and should be viewed as more of a runs water. January 2008 saw the introduction of an additional 15 carp, mostly 30lb plus... up to 39lb, so this definitely gives some larger fish to go for. The Small Lake also has two sturgeon of around 25lb.
