Venue:  Margot

Date of holiday: 2nd to 9th August 2003

No. of persons fishing: 3

Brief details of your catches: I did not catch any fish at all, only 47 poisson chat that we did not know were in the lake otherwise we would have taken rock hard boilies.  It was in the forties everyday - too hot!  Bob had an 8lb common.  Tom had 3 fish, 2 small and one at 21lb.  We all caught lots of poisson chat, it's overrun with them.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits:  Fishing behind the island at night.  We all baited up the same and used the same hook bait.  Tom was the only one on the island.

Were the facilities what you expected?  Better

Were you happy with them?  Very

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?  Yes but would tell them about poisson chat.

Would you recommend our services to a friend?  Yes

General comments:  I would love to go back next year when Simon has taken all the poisson chat out.  One chap had a 44lb common from behind the island, what a fish.

Dear Bridget ,

I'm sorry to sound like I'm moaning but what stopped us hitting it off was the weather, it was so hot, everyday it was 40 degrees.

The water was very low but that didn't worry us, it was the poisson chat, every half hour all through the night - they drove us mad.  Simon said that he was going to drain the lake and net them but he will have to wait till the end of the season.

I will say that everything about the place is great; showers, loos, kitchen.

See you soon.

Jim

Venue:  Margot

Date of holiday: April 2003

This is a few of the 15 fish that we had on the trip. I don't think that we did too bad as the weather was really against us with bitterly cold east winds all week. The temp dropped to -4 @ night. I managed to break 4 new pbs in the week so it was worth putting up with the frost bite!!!.

Best regards Karl & Blair.

PS  I think that we are going to try Morgane next year, I have already e-mailed you for some info. -  look forward to your reply.

Hi Bridget               The bait that i was using was 20 ml peach "n" pepper rolled for us by Simon @ BRB baits.  We also had a few fish on Activ-8 and Frank Warwicks pineapple plus pop-ups!. Although most of my fish fell to the peach "n" pepper fished on the bottom with a 3 bait stringer and a few crushed baits scattered around the rig.  The rigs were made from kryston mantis fished as a combi link 6 inches long with an inch stripped back. Hope this helps Bridget  Best regards Karl

I just thought that I would send you some photos of the better carp I caught on my last visit to Margot, when I say better what I mean is they were all superb fish right down to the pasties and the 10lb grass carp but this selection does the Margot carp justice. The fish incidentally were caught on BRB Peach and pepper, Active 8 and single Frank Warwick's pineapple pop ups anywhere from 10 - 20 yards to the left of winter point to 80 - 100 yds straight out and even though I took all the photos myself I am pretty pleased with the results, there were only a few that I was not that happy with.

In all think that even though the weather was not particularly kind, fresh NE winds blowing straight into winter point and sitting fleeced up to the eyeballs when the others on Tims swim were sitting in shorts and flip flops sunning it was not really what I expected, but hey! so what, I caught quite a few so I am very happy with that ,the biggest being a 35lb Mirror.

Best wishes to you all

Mick Fisher
