General comments: Water temperature up to 6.5deg. Lake frozen for first 3 days. Will come back in warm weather for a change and try for the bigger fish instead of tiddler snatching.

General comments: You can have everything at Vaux. Nice house and local area, you can fish from the garden or bivvie up on any one of the half dozen swims. If the fishing is slow, Chas is easy to distract from his frantic cleaning regime and will chat about tackle and tactics. I've booked again !! So will you

General comments: Unfortunately the weather was against us. A rapid temperature drop seemed to switch the fish off. However, this gave more time to obtain information from Chas whose knowledge seems limitless. Above all, we certainly had a good laugh and joke. General comments: The accommodation, venue and location were excellent and the hospitality second to none. The fishing was very hard, mainly due to weather conditions (hot). We learnt a great deal from Chas who really knows his fishing. An absolute must is a bait boat for pin-point location of bait

General comments: Very pleasant venue - beautiful surroundings. As we were not accustomed to tactics on this venue, Chas completely sorted us out which definitely improved our catches. He is very enthusiastic about his fishery and his fish and we all really liked that as fish farmers! The fishing was hard, but very rewarding. Great house - couldn't have done without it! General comments: This venue is a great place to catch fish if fished right. Take on board what Chas has to say because if you listen you will have a great fishing session. The lake and banks are very clean and Chas and Josie are lovely people and of course Buddy (the dog). Fishing this venue is a great experience, not just for the fisherman, but the whole family. We will definitely be back next year

General comments: This has been our first experience of fishing in France and our first holiday using Angling lines. What a wonderful way to start. From the beginning it has been so easy. We were met by Chas and Josie and immediatly felt at home. Josies tea was more than welcome whilst the 'men' had a beer!!?Chas was ready and willing to offer help and advice and helped us tremendously, all of us catching PBs and then some! It has been an excellent two weeks and while I'm sure our lack of early mornings might have frustrated Chas we've all learned so much (including the fact that Buddy will eat almost anything!)We have every intention of returning and intend to bring two things with us... a bait boat(essential) and a special seat for me so that I can catch 'the big one'

General comments: This is our second visit and the first for the friends who were with us. A great venue for a family holiday! The kids enjoyed catching roach and perch when they wanted to fish. Loads to do in and around the area. If you want to fish and take the family this is the place. We caught loads of good fish and could have had many more if we had put more time in! Chas and Josie are excellent hosts and cannot do enough for you, not forgetting Buddy, who everyone wants to take home!

General comments: Overall the lake and facilities are very good. The fishing can be hard going at times but worth the wait. We had two new Personal Bests so it can't be bad. (We had no bait boat - but take one) What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fishing close to the far margin caught 70% of fish, with the middle accounting for 30%. Best time was early morning and late evening. Baits used were Quest Baits Fruity Trifle, Irish Cream and Special Crab and maize and corn plus artificial baits

General comments: Where do we start. Chas was a star. If some of us had 10% of Chas's knowledge on carp fishing we would be more than happy. He showed us how to do rigs, where the fish were and much, much more. Great guy. Josie and Chas made us welcome when we arrived and not forgetting Buddy who was pleased to see us. Mind you, we reckon he pinched a few boilies. Where else can you open the sitting room window and the lake is 2 metres away. Nice countryside, great lake, clean, tidy and full of fish. If anyone needs to know what customer service is about, then Chas, Josie and Buddy have it in abundance, plus Angling Lines. OWNER'S comment: catches included 2 x 30s, 7 x 20s and several PBs What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Artificial maize seemed to do the trick for all of us, although a couple of nice commons came out during a night fish on QuestBaits Fruity Trifle. Keeping a tight line and strong tension avoiding snagging.

General comments: It was our first fishing holiday abroad and found it quite different to our norm. Chas was superb. He gave us advice and pointed us in the right direction and showed us several rigs. The place in general is lovely. Would definitely come back. Thanks for everything. Most fish came out of 'the tunnel'. Chas will help you out - don't try to go it alone!

General comments: Bring strong size 8 hooks with curved shank, mono with min stretch like XLine as you fish locked up. Heavy danglers. Heavy coated braid hook links. Fluorocarbon leaders, not tubing. D-rigs, pop-ups, bottom baits keep changing. Alternate your spots that you fish - fish one spot all week and you will suffer. Listen to Chas. He is totally in tune with his lake. Just accept he knows more than you and pump him for info which he gives freely. You will not fail to learn. He is a fantastic host and will give you as much or as little help as you like. Many thanks, Chas. I bet there are carp anglers that have dirtier carpets than Chas has banks. Spotless banks, clean areas to put bivvies. By the second day if you drop some corn on the bank, you will WANT to clean it up rather than let Chas see it. Mind you, you're ok as long as Buddy gets to you first. We had rain 5/6 days out of 7 and never got muddy. The house is fantastic. Would move in tomorrow. A real home from home. Fantastic for a family holiday. Josie makes sure it is spotless for your arrival which is probably a super-human effort after some parties of blokes have left it. We have had a great time and would love to come back. No. of persons fishing: 3 Brief details of your catches: We caught 27 carp under 20lb, mostly mid-upper doubles to 19lb 12oz, and 9 over 20lb, up to 27lb 8oz. In total there were 24 Commons and 12 Mirrors.We also caught 1 catfish (34lb 12 oz), 2 tench and 1 roach. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Maize and Tigers seemed best during the day, while washed out Irish Cream, air dried Fruit Trifle and Maple 8 worked best at night. You need a mono with low stretch like XLine, really stong size 8 hooks with curved shanks, a minimum of 3.5oz leads inline for the far bank and a silt set-up for the middle.Try everything Chas suggests!

General comments: Chas was gutted we did not get a 30. A few more 20's and a few less doubles/teens would have been nice, but the fight more than made up for it!
Chas is the best host and you will not fail to learn something! We are not serious anglers, so if we can catch this amount of fish so can you.
The girls loved the house, which we would all live in tomorrow if we could! My daughter loved Buddy (the dog) who was fantastic with a demanding 6 year old! Josie is great, very calm and does a fantastic job with the house, while Chas is hyper!
A brilliant holiday even though the weather was crap - we would love to go back! Many thanks to Angling Lines, Chas, Josie & Buddy!

General comments: Well, where do we start. This is now our 4th visit to Vaux and it just keeps getting better. Chas is a brilliant help and each time we go back home we go back with a vast knowledge to help us empty our own lakes. Josie keeps the gite in tip-top condition, even after 5 blokes have been using the facilities. Adrian and Anthony have been nicknamed a herd of buffalo so you can imagine we have kept Chas busy clearing up, which he does to a very high standard. We are already looking forward to our next visit when I'm sure we will again get some more PBs. This time we had 2 broken. We also broke the lake record double. So all in all, considering the weather earlier in the week, it's been a very enjoyable week. Thanks must go to Buddy, the dog, for clearing up all the stray bait and also to Josie for helping us out in the Champion Supermarket with the local lingo. All fish taken near to 'structure' in margins. Maize/Tiger and boilies best bais. Both 30s on boilies

General comments: After a slow start and some good advice from Chas, catches picked up despite extremely inclement weather. Cold/wet/windy for whole of week except last day! Chas pays meticulous attention to the venue and his charges and is a great benefit overall. Wish he would stop sweeping up every day! Must be busy in the autumn! No. of persons fishing: 2 Brief details of your catches: Peter: Best 35lb6oz mirror (11oz short of PB). Next best 35lb09oz catfish - but hooked in tail (which was fun) so doesn't really count! Dave: 28lb14oz cat (caught proper). PB all species. Several other carp of unremarkable weight, but all in pristine condition and fighting above their weight What did you find were the best tactics/baits: TACTICS: 1. Listen to Chas! 2. Only 3 fish caught in open water. Rest from under trees. A perilous cast - otherwise baitboat essential. BAITS: Tigernuts were best performers. Boilies the only other bait used

General comments: This really is a quite superb venue. Tranquil surroundings, a lake full of fish (although we found catching them another matter!), absolutely top notch accommodation beautifully presented, and delightful hosts who seem genuinely concerned that your stay will be as perfect as it is possible to make. Attention to detail is the key. From the meticulous standards in the gite to the provision of ashtrays (!), floorcoverings (!) and 'other conveniences' provided for you at your peg. Marvellous! Although we found the fishing hard this week, I am sure that is not the norm. Listen to what Chas tells you - and do it. However, if the fish conspire to take your baits only when the wind is howling and the rain horizontal (which it was quite a lot this week) even Chas might struggle to solve that problem

Various boilies and Tigernuts started catching towards end of the week

General comments: Arrived to a warm welcome from Chas, Josie and not forgetting Buddy! The venue itself was superb, the facilities and lake exceeded all expectations. We enjoyed some great fishing and all finished catching a P.B. of some description. At times of struggle, Chas was always available with some useful tips and advice and soon had us catching again.
The holiday was an all round success and a future trip will be planned in the near future.
Lastly, we would like to thank Angling Lines for providing an excellent service.

If you are not catching, fish to the sluice on the wall, can't fail! What did you find were the best tactics/baits: When slow try maize. Don't forget the match pool, it's a gem!

General comments: Angling Lines' service was excellent. As soon as we arrived at Vaux we were made to feel completely at home. The cottage has been perfect for the families. Chas has been an excellent guide. We have also enjoyed going to Fougeres Forest and surrounding areas. The fishing has been great constant sport although we only fished part days. General comments: With the weather we had this week, was really glad wasn't bivvied up, was great to head to the warmth and dry of the cottage after a hard day behind the pod. Chas and Josie have obviously put a great deal into the high standard of the facilities (both the cottage and the lake) which go a long way towards a great holiday, and offers of help and advice to ensure the holiday is a memorable one.
