The venue centers around a 4.5-acre lake nestled within 15 acres of rolling French countryside. With the river Crassat to the west and ancient oak woodland to the east, MDP Lake is a haven not just for carp anglers, but also for wildlife lovers and anyone in need of some peaceful escape.
This is a venue that has seen very little angling pressure, the carp have been allowed to mature undisturbed. The result? Fish that feed confidently and an excellent average weight already.
🐟 Quality French Carp Fishing in a Carefully Managed Water
MDP Lake is home to a well-balanced stock of carp to over 48lb, with a very healthy average weight in the mid-30s. But it’s not just about size – the quality of the fish and the natural environment they live in are second to none.
The lake has been expertly crafted by Scott, a highly experienced carp angler and fishery manager with over 40 years of experience, a background at Sparsholt College, and three decades in fish farming and the water industry. Every element of this venue, from snag removal to swim placement, has been considered with both the angler and the fish in mind.

MDP Lake is available exclusively for up to three anglers, making it the ideal venue for small groups who want space, privacy and the chance to experience a truly personal fishing adventure.
There are three single swims located along the east bank:
- The Laurels – A shallower area with overhanging trees and far margin interest.
- Cherry Tree – The central swim with easy access to the social area and BBQ.
- Brambles – Positioned near the dam wall and offering deeper margins and tree cover.
Behind the central swim is a social area complete with a picnic bench and BBQ – perfect for catching up with mates while still keeping an eye on your rods.

- Size: 4.5 acres
- Depth: Averages 3ft, with areas from 2–4ft
- Bottom: Predominantly silt with clay spots and carp holes – great bait presentation potential
- Stock: Quality carp to 48lb+, averaging mid-30s
- No nuisance species: No poisson chat, no sturgeon or catfish. A few roach/rudd/perch, but no bream, chub, or tench.
- Crayfish: Present but managed – simple precautions like shrink-wrapped hookbaits or plastic baits work well

MDP Lake is also a paradise for nature lovers. Wildlife is everywhere here – fire salamanders, green lizards, badgers, kingfishers, even osprey have been spotted above the lake. If you love being surrounded by nature while fishing, this venue will deliver in spades.

- On-site Owners: Scott & Heather live onsite and are on hand to assist if needed, though they’re happy to leave you to enjoy your week.
- Gear Provided: Landing nets, retainers, unhooking mats, tripod and barrow – all provided
- Parking: Vehicles can usually be parked approx. 10m behind Cherry Tree swim for easy barrow access
- Campervans: Smaller vans (up to VW size) are welcome but cannot be parked right next to the lake. Larger motorhomes or caravans are not suitable
- Fully fenced French carp fishing: No otters or coypu
