Interview with an Owner – Lionel & Véronique at Heart Lake

Our website features an outstanding collection of carp lakes in France, and each one is a credit to the dedicated people who run them. With this in mind, we spoke with Lionel and Véronique at Heart Lake, asking them a few questions to learn more about their journey.

1. When did you discover carp fishing and how did you come to be here at the lake?

Lionel – I discovered carp fishing with my grandfather. We spent a lot of time outdoors together and that is where my love for fishing began. Later a friend introduced me to this lake and everything started from there.

2. What’s the best and worst part of being the owner?

The best part is the relationship with our guests and the friendships that develop over time.
The hardest part is the constant worry that everything runs perfectly during each angler’s stay.

3. What would you say is the best feature of your lake?

The lake is ideal for families. It sits in a peaceful area away from noise with only the sound of singing frogs in the evenings. Of course the fish must be mentioned as well because the stock is strong and healthy!

4. When people arrive is there anything they are surprised by?

Most visitors are pleasantly surprised by how clean and well maintained the venue is along with the level of service and the welcome they receive from the moment they arrive.

5. What is the most common mistake you see anglers make at your lake?

The most common mistake anglers make is thinking that if they don’t have a bait boat they will catch fewer fish.

6. Finally, what is the one most important piece of advice you’d give to anglers visiting your lake soon?

Do not hesitate to contact us before your trip. We are happy to help with tactics and tackle and we can also supply boilies and seeds directly at the lake.

We have set up a simple ordering system so anglers avoid any problems with items being stopped at customs.

Heart Lake combines quality carp fishing with relaxed lakeside comfort, ideal for families or small groups. A cottage 30 metres from the water sleeps six and behind the main swim sits a spacious decked area with a dining area and BBQ.

The lake holds plenty of carp over 30lb with a current top weight of 53lb. Nestled in peaceful countryside, it is conveniently located near town amenities, ensuring that non-anglers can also have a great time with play areas available on-site and beaches just under an hour away.
