About the Lake
Lassicourt Lake has been carefully managed to maintain its natural, wild beauty. The lake features an intricate layout of islands and secluded bays, offering a variety of unique and rewarding spots to fish.
The lake ranges in depth from 1.5m to 3m. As it's a gravel pit, water levels can fluctuate throughout the season, typically higher at the beginning and lower towards the end of the year. The lake bed is a mix of hard bottom, gravel bars, sand and some clay spots where the fish love to feed.
Once an old hunting ground left untouched for years, the lake and its banks were completely overgrown when Constant took it over. Lots of maintenance has been carried out, but plenty of snags remain and some weed beds. When you fish at Lassicourt, you’re fishing a truly wild lake, full of character, with overhanging trees, branches and untouched natural features - anglers who appreciate this will be right at home.
Anglers will be pleased to know that there are no issues with poisson chat and no bream, there are a few tench in the lake. As with many French lakes, crayfish are present, more so in the hotter months. It’s best to be prepared just in case, we recommend you take tiger nuts or use plastic baits - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. With these simple measures in place, they should cause you no problem.
Vehicle access is excellent, with a gravel track leading directly to each swim, you can also park behind your swim for the duration of your holiday.
Lake Swim Layout:
Swim 1: A double gravelled swim with its own private gated entrance behind. A big open space with lots of choice: margins to each side and fishable weed beds out to the front. There’s a small island directly in front and a large island to your right. The average depth is around 1.8m on a normal year.
Swim 2: A central single gravel swim. You have a large island to your left, a peninsula straight ahead and another island on your right. Excellent opportunities in both the margins and open water. The average depth is between 2.2-2.5m on a normal year.
Swim 3a: A flexible gravel swim that can be used as either a single or double. However, it can only be booked as a double if you are part of a group of 2-3 anglers, who must also reserve swim 2 at the same time. A big, open swim with a large island and beautiful overhanging bushes to your left, a small island in the middle and plenty of feature-rich margins with overhanging trees and branches. Average depth is around 2.2-2.5m.
Swim 3b: This swim serves as an extension of Swim 3a and it is where you will fish if swim 2 is booked by a single angler (who is not part of your booking). This is because the proximity of swims 2 and 3 mean it is better for individual anglers to be on opposite sides of the lake instead. This swim mirrors the setup of Swim 3a but from the opposite side.
Swim 4: A unique single gravel swim with a small island just 20m in front. Fishing here focuses on two beautiful bays on either side, which are fish-holding hotspots thanks to the natural cover of trees and branches. A floating pontoon stretches out from the swim to help position your rods and improve your angles. We recommend bringing a pontoon adaptor for your rod pod or bank sticks. Depth ranges from 1.5-2.2m.
Please see the lake map for locations of all swims. If you need any further clarification on swims 2, 3a and 3b, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
