Genêts is situated in the idyllic, peaceful countryside of the Pays de la Loire region, near Mayenne. Although easy to find with the directions supplied it is set well away from busy main roads - the only neighbours you'll be likely to see are cows grazing in the nearby fields - making this an ideal setting for a quiet week of fishing away from it all.

This is a 40 year old man made lake of approximately 5.5 acres, fed by a natural spring, with a silt over clay bottom. The owners have retained its natural look with trees and bushes overhanging the water, giving shade and shelter to both anglers and fish.
There are 9 single swims & 1 double for 5 anglers maximum to choose from, so there's plenty of room to move around if you wish. All the swims are on one side of the lake and are well drained with good cover and plenty of space for large bivvies. The bank you fish to is mostly tree and bush lined and there are lily pads at one end of the lake.
Owners Larry, Steve & Heather live on-site so there is always someone available should you need any help or advice. The property is securely fenced in and there is a car parking area. Larry & Steve can help you transport your tackle to your swim if you wish.
Larry is an experienced Carp fisherman & is always available for any help or advice if required

There is a comfortable lodge overlooking the lake where breakfast and evening meals are served. The food package includes a full cooked English breakfast with cereals, toast and as much tea and coffee as you can drink... or a breakfast baguette delivered to your swim, and a two-course evening meal... main course and sweet. We're told nobody has ever left hungry, so be prepared to put on a bit of weight!!
Breakfast & evening meals are served in the lodge… or, weather permitting, at the seating area overlooking the lake. For those hardy fishermen who don't want to reel in they are more than happy to serve your evening meals at the gazebo situated close to your swims.
Food package price £120
If you book the food package you will be asked to pay a 10% deposit to Angling Lines and the balance to the lake in Euros when you arrive. Please note that due to fluctuations in the exchange rate the balance you pay when you arrive may not equate exactly to the remaining 90% in £’s sterling – it may be slightly more or less due to a change in the exchange rate.

In the lodge there are UK electrical sockets for mobile phone charging etc. and a freezer for bait. Next to the lodge is the shower and toilet block (2 showers, 2 toilets) which has hot water 24 hours a day. A washing-machine & tumble-dryer are available for your use for a small charge.
Snacks, beer, wine, soft drinks, milk, and bottled water are all available.
Anything purchased on site eg. food, bait, drinks etc can be paid for at end of the week, but we do ask that you pay in Euros.

There is a comfortable mobile home which is sited near to the lodge overlooking the lake and sleeps up to 4 people. There are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double bed & 1 with 2 singles (bedding can be provided for a small charge). There’s a comfortable sitting area with a television that receives UK TV channels & a DVD player, a tackle store & a small galley kitchen with hob, microwave & kettle. There’s no toilet or shower as these facilities are available in the adjacent shower block. The mobile home gives you the chance to take along partners or non-anglers… or just simply provide a bit more comfort for yourselves.

To save you taking up valuable car space bivvies and bedchairs are available to hire at the following prices:
- 2 man bivvie..... £30/40 euros a week.
- Bedchair..... £25/35 euros a week.
However, these items do need to be reserved in advance - ring the office for details.
Good quality large weigh slings & unhooking mats are provided at each swim FOC.
Bait available to purchase on-site.
Boilies from 9 euros to 11 euros a kilo.
Lake pellet……13e / 5kg ... or 60e for a 25kg sack.
Prepared maize…… 9.5e / 5kg,
We do hold a small selection of terminal tackle should you need anything.
Genets now holds around 145 beautiful mirrors & commons to 46lb. After the lake was purchased the owners supplemented the existing stock of high doubles with additional stock in February 2004, consisting of mainly 20's to high 30's. More stock was added in December 2004, along with some catfish. During June 2005 a batch of 15 beautiful commons were added weighing from 16lb to over 20lb. The carp are fed throughout the year on a mixture of good quality pellet & maize therefore maintaining excellent growth rates…. the average weight for carp caught in the 2006 season was around 27lb. The 2008 season saw carp of 40lb+ being caught by anglers most weeks. The Lake Record now stands at 46lb 3oz, caught in July 2008 by one of Colin Palmer’s Party... they also caught 2 other 40lb+ during their stay. The lake has no poisson chat or crayfish.
On Wednesday 18th October 2006 the owners had the professional fish farmers in netting the lake to remove all the unwanted small fish.

As you’ll see they netted most of the roach & around 70 of the carp... that being just over half the stock. All the carp seen were in excellent condition and there were at least 30 x 30lb+. Only one was weighed & that had the scales bouncing at around 39 to 40lb. Amazingly they removed over a ton of roach, which will help greatly with the subsequent growth of the carp as competition for food reduces.
