This is a range of venues, from runs waters to larger lakes, with genuine size and numbers of both specimen carp and large catfish, set up for UK anglers travelling over. These lakes are perfect for groups where anglers may have different goals - some may want to spend the week targeting carp, while others prefer chasing catfish, or simply enjoy switching between the two depending on conditions.


Not at all. Many anglers visit these venues purely for the carp fishing and never cast a bait specifically for catfish. Having both species present simply gives you the option to target catfish if you choose, adding another dimension to your trip rather than defining it.

Wels catfish are incredibly powerful fish, so if you're looking to target them specifically it's worth using stronger tackle than you would for a standard carp session. Heavy-duty hooklinks, robust hooks and a heavier main line all help cope with long, powerful runs and reduce the chance of tackle failure when connected to a large fish.

Catfish are natural predators and generally respond well to fish-based baits. Halibut pellets, fishmeal boilies and other high-oil baits are all proven choices, producing a strong scent trail that helps attract fish.
