Big Carp Lakes in France: Frequently Asked Questions

We review and reconfirm the biggest carp size for every lake on this page every two seasons, so the weights shown are as accurate and current as they can be - not historic best-ever catches that may no longer reflect the lake. We also publish up to date genuine angler reports and photos for each venue, so you can see real recent captures rather than relying on our word alone.

It depends on the lake - our big carp venues range from 60lb+ waters up to lakes verified at 80lb and beyond, such as Evaro (84lb) and Fullys Lake (82lb). Use the "Carp Size" filter on this page to set your target weight and see only the venues that genuinely offer a realistic chance at it.

Not necessarily - some of our biggest fish waters have simpler facilities and therefore are still genuinely affordable, so a bigger personal best doesn't automatically mean a bigger price tag. If you're happy for more drive & survive experiences then you can certainly find budget lakes that still hold monster carp to target.

You can also find many late and early season price discounts on our big fish waters - Old Oaks, for example, is open all winter and can be booked by individual anglers during this period. The fishing might be slower but you know if the buzzer goes it could well be an 80lb carp!

Often, yes - the biggest carp tend to live in the trickier, more challenging lakes, and there's usually a reason they've grown that big (for example there are a lot of naturals already present in the lake for them to feed on, which can make attracting them with your bait harder).

We're upfront about each venue's difficulty level and the features you'll need to fish around, so you can go prepared rather than being caught out. Take advantage of all the information we have online for each lake, go prepared, and enjoy some seriously memorable captures.

If you'd rather a more consistent, less technical session, our Runs Water Fishing Lakes page filters specifically for that.

Yes - a number of our smaller big carp venues, such as Brie (up to 4 anglers), Jonchery 7 (up to 3 anglers) and Old Oaks (up to 5 anglers), are lake-exclusive, meaning you and your group have the whole water to yourselves rather than sharing with other parties. It's a good option if you want monster carp potential without fishing a huge, daunting open water.

Many do - several of our big carp venues include onsite accommodation ranging from simple cabins to social lodges, such as Golden Carp Lake (lakeside cabin on it's own island for up to 2 anglers) and Maniere (lake exclusive for up to 4 anglers, includes lodge accommodation).

Use the "Accommodation" filter on this page alongside your carp size preference to see which big fish venues also come with somewhere comfortable to stay.

Yes - every venue we list carries genuine angler catch reports and photos, which you can view online before making a decision. We've represented many of these lakes for well over a decade, so between our own experience and the ongoing reports from anglers who've fished there, you get a realistic picture of what to expect.

Of course - with so many big carp venues to choose from, ranging from huge open waters to smaller intimate lakes, it's not always an easy decision. Just get in touch and, with well over a decade's experience representing these lakes, we'll help you find the venue that matches the size of carp, level of challenge and group size you're after.
