About the Lake

The Specimen Lake (Lake Lauren)

Lake Lauren sits adjacent to a small forest and is set in a 10 acre protected plot attracting a variety of rare and beautiful wildlife, including eagles, owls, kingfishers and the occasional red squirrel and deer.

At 3.2 acres in size, it varies in depth from 0.6m to 2.4m, and is lined with irises, bulrushes, foxgloves and overhanging trees and shrubs. Gorgeous surroundings to enjoy superb French carp fishing.

There is ample room for 4 anglers and their bivvies between the six decked swims, with the other two banks being overgrown with trees, gorse and reeds giving excellent features to fish to.

A bit more info on the decked swims;

The Stock Lake (Lake William)

The stock lake ‘Lake William’ and is set adjacent to, and at 3.6 acres is slightly bigger than, its sister lake. The lake is almost triangular in shape and is fishable from the top of Blackberry Hill with permission from the owners, lined with overhanging trees, gorse, bulrushes, irises, foxgloves, etc. The lake backs onto a small forest from which the spring that feeds the lakes originates. The coves along this bank make for great holding areas for the fish.

‘Goose Island’ is about a third of the way up from the point of the lake and measures around 8m by 3m and stands in about 1m of water. It has 2 bays on the front edge and each of these have a gully dug down to 1.2m in front of them.

The Floating Cabin housing the lake facilities; toilet, tea making facilities etc - can be accessed via a wooden pontoon bridge from ‘Lagoon Walk’.

There are no poisson-chat or crayfish in either lake.

The lake complex is fenced and gated with a combination lock. The two lakes are only meters apart and you are able to drive your car down to the lake gates from the accommodation if necessary.
