About the Lake
Lillypool is a 3 acre spring fed lake with average depths of 3-8ft. Features include lily pads (of course!), extensive reed beds, shallow and deep margins and an island. There is nothing that causes anglers' concern in terms of snags although the two main sets of lilies are worth keeping an eye on when playing fish. And you don't have to worry about crayfish or poisson chats... there are none!
Nearly all anglers choose to fish from the island, which comfortably accommodates up to four people fishing and providing an excellent base from which you can all socialise around the large shelter and BBQ area whilst keeping your rods out.
A gravel track runs from the entrance all the way to the lakeside lodge where you can park your car for the week, making easy work of unloading tackle. A footbridge then takes you onto the island swim.
Rick the bailiff, now legendary for his hospitality and knowledge of the lake, will be there to greet you. After a glass of the red stuff or a cup of tea, whichever you prefer, he will walk and talk you through the swims and it really pays to listen to his advice.
There can be some vehicle noise at this lake depending on the wind direction, as it is situated 150m from a main road. However, as you can see from the reviews it does not impact on angler's enjoyment of the lake.
Lillypool is set in 10 acres of fields and wooded areas, secure and private, perfect for that ‘all this is ours’ feeling. This lake offers French carp fishing in gorgeous surroundings.
