About the Lake
Swims
Triangular in shape, swims 1-7 sit along one bank with swims 8-10 on the opposite bank. With this many swims for a maximum of 5 anglers you have lots of options on how you choose to fish.
Spacious and topped with gravel, swims 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 8/9 sit next to each other, effectively making large double swims. Swims 7 and 10 are more suited to a single angler looking to take advantage of good access to some of the harder to reach margins.
There is plenty of shade to be found in the hotter months thanks to the large mature trees lining the lake. A level gravel path leads to each swim but there is no access for cars, these are to be left in the car park at the entrance.
Lake depth, features etc
Depths reach 6-7ft along the dam wall (swims 1 and 8 give you good access to this) and the lake shallows to 3-4ft at the top end. The lake bottom is quite silty.
You will find some snags in this lake and combined with some big catfish, you may want to think about stepping up your strength of tackle etc. There are no known issues with poisson chat or crayfish and no reported issues with weed.
The very top narrow end of the lake is a nature reserve and cannot be fished. This area is indicated by a mesh net which runs along the water (and prevents the larger fish from entering this top corner).
Whilst the owners are very knowledgeable and will help when asked, there is no resident bailiff and therefore anglers are encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of information available on the website before their trip.
