Fishing Paradise! Together with my son, we enjoyed this fishing paradise.

We had 14 carp smallest 21lb an biggest 29.4lb out of the big lake, and ranging from 7 to 14 lbs on the Match lake. 4 cats 26 to 57lbs. O an 2 bream.

We had a great week with 23 fish between 3 of us on the main lake . We had 8 mirrors to 38lb, 6 commons to 44lb, 5 grass carp to 24lb and 4 catfish to 46lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Best tactics were to the far bank right in close under the bushes . Spinner rig with white pop ups , german rig with any of the boilies they provide on site worked well . And very successful on tiger nuts over the particle mix . For the catfish fish close to sluce with 3 Atlantic boilies on a size 1 cat rig over 5kg of pellet

General Comments:

All round great holiday and great fishing not too easy and not too hard, you had to work for your bites

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Keep it simple and don’t over complicate things. 18mm boilies, topped with fake corn or snowman, twister size 6 hooks. Yes the far bank will produce, but try not to get sucked into the norm. The far bank - I found you either had to be right under the overhang, so you will need a bait boat or just over a rod length off, but this was on the stoney patch opposite the middle swim. Try just over halfway (stream on the map) from the middle double swim, (left side) aim towards the wind turbine you can see between the trees. Both the little island produced, about a foot off. Also had 3 carp from different margins I doubt some wouldn’t consider… try it..! Oh try single hook bait with no other baiting, on the last night I had two doing this.

General Comments:

Generally we didn’t have the best of luck with the weather, with April showers living up to its name and still a bit on the chilly side, but overall still had a productive 6 days/nights fishing. My boy got one up on dad with 31lb catfish and bagged himself a PB with a nice 37lb Mirror. Reality dawned for me when weighing in a 41lb which was my PB for a Common, (Ribs). It's also worth of mentioning the quality and condition of the fish were exceptional.. lee and my debate on barbless hooks, is certainly paying dividends in ensure this level of quality. The lake is very quiet and tranquil, giving plenty of options for a weeks fishing. I sense if there were 3 anglers, it provides optimum coverage of the lake - top, middle & bottom, also unlike most locations, there are very few, if at all, places were fish can hold up out of reach. Surprisingly I’d assume given the temperature, most takes would have come from deeper water, but not at all. Prime time was a couple of hours into darkness, with only one landed in daylight hours, mind you I’m sure the will change once the water warms up and bought of Sun.
