During a very tough week weather wise, with strong NE winds, temps around 8 degrees and relentless rain the fish completely shut down until the last couple of days when it calmed down. We then started to catch steadily on most baits presented in deeper water.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Perfect for what we required. Hot shower, plenty of power points and useful fridges and freezer.

We have re booked for next year so we certainly would, lovely lake. Sophie is a lovely host.

Angling Lines were very open and offered us the chance to cancel with low water levels but we didn't want to miss out. Easy to book, great communication throughout. Thoroughly recommend Angling Lines.

General Comments:

A tough week that at times made us struggle for motivation due to relentless rain. Can't wait to come back in july when we can test ourselves against these impressive fish.

General Comments:

The lake water levels were at a record low and I believe the owners cancelled 2 other fisherman the week we were there. We really struggled fishing wise and we believe the water levels were a big factor. I wish we had been given the choice to fish there or not as we did not catch as we expected. I agree nature plays a part and you are not guaranteed fish but we are experienced anglers and all of our tactics only produced 6 fish. A little disappointed that's all. *Angling Lines note* We're sorry that the fishing and conditions proved tricky this week. To confirm we did limit the number of anglers on the week so that there was plenty of space, given the lower summer water levels this year.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Finely balanced double tiger nuts drilled out with cork and a popup fake corn as a topper. On a Ronnie or German, boillie caught cats and the 51lb mirror. Go to small baits and bream all day. More fish caught during daytime on silt than gravel. Although bites were missed from shallow bars for some reason. Three cats lost.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities was good, shower good and plenty of fridge and freezer space, kettle, toaster and two rings added.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, ran out of water one night at dusk so sent message to owner who replied within a minute, water back on within 15 mins.

General Comments:

Although fishing hard we couldn't get on spit as to weedy and shallow, plus water very warm we still managed PBs each. Stuck to the deeper areas as that was productive. Saw lots of comments about rats and its clear the owner has been working on this issue, only one rat seen in whole week.
