About the Lake
Cailleaux is a roughly triangular 4.5 acres in size, with all five double swims spread evenly along one side of the lake. The mature trees to the back of the swims offer good shade in the heat of the summer.
The lake bottom is a little silty with very few snags midwater, no crayfish, no poisson chat and no real issues with weed. A joy to fish! You will find some snags towards margins and the narrow end of the lake - be aware that this tends to be where the hugh catfish beeline for when hooked.
From the widest end of the lake, you'll find the most depth (a maximum of 3m) and a casting distance to the far bank of approximately 140 yards. As the lake narrows the depth gently decreases, with the swims at the furthest end having a casting distance of around 85 yards.
Rowing boats are not allowed or provided, however we do recommend the use of a bait boat here if you have one, it gives you great ability to accurately place your baits close to the far bank which is an obvious hotspot.
You also have access to the far bank on foot, if needed, to bait up.
Vehicle access
There is good access to each swim, with the ability to unload your gear on the track behind (around 25m from the water's edge). It would also be possible to park your car or campervan close enough behind your swim on the furthest end of the lake (swims 1 and 2) but only if you book the lake exclusively for your group (otherwise it is a swim draw and you cannot guarantee you will get these swims).
