General Comments:

A wonderful time spent with the family. Upon arrival we were welcomed very warmly, despite very warm days with temperatures reaching 32 degrees, we managed to catch 30 carp, PB broken 3 times.

Details of your catches:

Great fishing, up to 10 carp a day. We only fished days or just afternoons. Biggest fish 46 lb several 40 lb + and lots of 30s.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Tight against the island and under the trees on the far side. Small popups with a handful of bait.

Were the facilities what you expected?

On arrival the accommodation looked fine and reasonably clean. But later on we found that there were no forks to eat with? No bbq tools, so we had to buy some. We also noticed that there were no chairs outside so we bought two. We went to bed the first night only to wake up with a very bad smell/ stink in the bedrooms. I was using the double bedroom and my friend was in one of the other bedrooms, the bad smell was in both bedrooms in fact the whole property so we chose to sleep in the car. In the morning we found that the smell was coming from the outside and in through vents in the rooms , there is a toilet/ waste tank underneath the property which is probably the cause of the problem. We went shopping again for some duck tape and blocked the vents in the bedrooms but the smell continued inside the other rooms. We were informed that there was no drinking water before we booked but the water was BROWN with bits in it? Not ideal having a shower in dirty water. There are no spare gas bottles, the hot water stopped? No gas, the hob stopped? No gas, the bbq stopped? No gas. On each occasion we have to wait until it’s convenient for the owners to replace them. The fridge packed up working and the owner replaced it a day later. We have to use their landing nets but they are in very poor condition with several repairs and one with a very large hole in the bottom of the net, which we made the owner aware of at the beginning of the holiday but it was not replaced?
*Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We have spoken to the owner, Jonathan, regarding the points you have raised. Since your stay, a ventilation system has been installed to address the odour issue and a new water filtration system has been fitted. Regarding the landing nets, these have been replaced.

Jonathan also confirmed that the missing forks were there but had been put away incorrectly prior to your stay, he apologises for this. Although there are no specific fishing chairs, outdoor seating is available. The water heater gas bottle was replaced as soon as the owner was made aware of the issue. The BBQ gas issue was unfortunately not reported until after your departure, had Jonathan been made aware he would have happily replaced this for you.

A gas heater is available on request. The heater had been stored away following the winter period but could have been provided had it been requested. We have since made this clearer on our website.

Were you happy with them?

Obviously not. Also there is no heating in the property, I have stayed at many places like this in France but this is by far the worst. When we spoke to the owner about the bad smell in the property he said that he was very aware of the problem and it was being sorted out in a few days? But nothing was done.
