Dave gets ‘Braced’ for New Lake Record!, 1st Apr

Here from Saturday 17th April, Dave ‘Lord of the Manor’ Stephenson of the Des Chapman Party has started the ball rolling with the ‘Men’s Lake Record Brace’.

As the sun shone down across the waters of Lake Lauren this Monday afternoon, Dave’s left hand rod tore off at around 1:00pm, closely followed by emphatic bleeps from his right hand rod.

The first fish Dave brought in was bank side regular mirror ‘Nemo’ at 25lb 7oz; the second was a stunning 21lb 7oz Common, giving a combined brace weight of 46lb 14oz.

Both fish were caught with Mainline Pineapple Dumbbell combined with Mutant pop-up and were taken from two separate areas in the Reeds.

Well done Dave!!!!

New Lake Record Common!!!, 1st Apr

Roger Hemming (aka Fireman Sam) of the Des Chapman Party arrived here on Saturday afternoon with a PB of 17lb. Just 24 hours later, he more than doubled it by smashing the ‘Lake Record Common’ title with a fish of 36lb!

The gorgeous fat Common was taken by Roger in the blazing afternoon sunshine at 2:15pm on Sunday the 18th of April. Roger fished a Pineapple dumbbell combined with a Mutant pop-up to an area on the Gorse bank where it meets the reeds; this is proving to be a very productive area for the 30lb+ Carp, especially over the last week.

Well done Roger!!

Roger Hemming Sets New Lake Record Mirror - 43.10!, 1st Apr

I was genuinely delighted to received a phone call at 2am this morning from Party leader Des Chapman saying “Roger's got a carp on the bank which I need you to come and witness!”.

I dashed to the lake to see a massive Mirror Carp known as ‘Golddigger’ in the landing net. The cracking big lump came in at 43lb 10oz and from roughly the same spot as where Roger took the ‘Lake Record Common’ from just 12 hours earlier.

Miraculously, this was Roger’s second take from the big Mirror in one night! When he finally landed it, he got back all his end tackle from being snapped off the first time round just 45 minutes earlier from a different rod!! It was obviously destiny that the two should meet bank side!

For the record, Roger Hemming landed the 43lb 10oz Mirror at 2am on Monday the 19th of April on a Mainline Pineapple dumbbell with a Mutant pop-up. Roger is now the double title holder of ‘Lake record Mirror’ and ‘Lake Record Common’ at 36lb. If there was an award for ‘Lake Record Smile’ he probably would have won that too!!!

Well done Roger!!!

Phil’s Dunn a Double Whammy Wine Award!!, 1st Apr

Phil Dunn of the Matt Cole Party is the first angler this year at La Gléhias to achieve one of the new Lake Record Awards for the 2010 season.

Not content with winning the ‘Lake Record Grassie’ award at 12lb 12oz on Monday the 12th of April, he then went on to take the ‘Lake Record Common’ award the following afternoon with a cracking fish of 32lb 6oz.

Phil has so far had three 30’s, four 20’s and two upper doubles, all of which have come on Chocolate Malt-Tigernut boilies. Other members of the Matt Cole party have also enjoyed seeing Carp to upper 20’s and first time Carp fisherman Kevin Burrows has also managed to put two 30+ Mirrors on the bank.

Two of the lads in the party are now giving Quests new ‘Chilli Chocolate’ a go. Something tells me that this bait is going to be a winner…..

Double congratulations!!

Well done Phil.
