General Comments:

Overall happy but could do with less kittens in the lake or at least advertise there are alot of cats *Angling Lines note* Thank you for your feedback. We’ve spoken to the bailiff Mark and he assures us the catfish are being actively removed, with a keepnet in place for the smaller cats and a netting is planned for the winter to reduce their numbers further. We’ve also now added more information to the venue page on how best to avoid the smaller cats in the meantime.

Early on in the trip we caught an awful lot of smaller carp and approx 20 catfish to near 20lb which we put in the stock pond. This was frustrating dropping leads for small fish but the big girls started to play ball after a day or so.

General Comments:

Disappointed with the amount of smaller carp and cats but always the chance of a large carp on Jonchery 8. Mark is a great host.

Details of your catches:

6 carp 30.8lb, 35.12lb, 3 x doubles and a 55.2lb Grass Carp, 20 cats to 27lb, 2 x pike and a zander. To give fair context one of the anglers was my 8 year old son, not a 2nd adult. Fishing was not easy, plenty of fish were spawning on the first night, warm and very humid until Wednesday and I was doing ok with a 30.8lb Mirror, 35.12lb Leather, 55.2lb Grassy plus 3 doubles and 9 cats averaging around 20lb biggest 27lb, lost a very large and insanely powerful cat that I couldn’t do anything with on Monday night. Temperature dropped 8 degrees Wednesday pm, heavy cold rain and N/NW winds killed the carp fishing but I was kept interested by 11 more cats all between 15 and 25lb. We did a lot better than the guys on the main lake.

General Comments:

Excellent trip overall if a little frustrating not to catch any carp after Wednesday morning. Definitely due to the cold rain and big temperature drop especially as the lake is shallow, 2-6ft, around 4ft on average reckon? Lovely lake in a beautiful, mature setting, stunning fish but could do with less small carp and cats. Mark was excellent, made us feel very welcome and is very knowledgeable and helpful. We were lucky to share the complex with a great bunch of blokes on J7 and the main lake who were all top guys, really friendly, my boy thinks they’re all now his mates! Thanks for a good week

We caught 17 carp, 2 Grass carp and 3 small catfish. 4 small carp 2 doubles 6 20lb+ 4 30lb+ best 38lb Koi 1 40.4lb common 2 Grass carp 50.12lb and 57.12lb

All the fish were caught fishing boilies over pellets or particles. Most caught fishing the margins.

An enjoyable week. A slow start but started to pickup after 3 days. We had sunny days and frosts at night.
