6 carp 30.8lb, 35.12lb, 3 x doubles and a 55.2lb Grass Carp, 20 cats to 27lb, 2 x pike and a zander.
To give fair context one of the anglers was my 8 year old son, not a 2nd adult. Fishing was not easy, plenty of fish were spawning on the first night, warm and very humid until Wednesday and I was doing ok with a 30.8lb Mirror, 35.12lb Leather, 55.2lb Grassy plus 3 doubles and 9 cats averaging around 20lb biggest 27lb, lost a very large and insanely powerful cat that I couldn’t do anything with on Monday night. Temperature dropped 8 degrees Wednesday pm, heavy cold rain and N/NW winds killed the carp fishing but I was kept interested by 11 more cats all between 15 and 25lb. We did a lot better than the guys on the main lake.

Bait boat to far margin, house boilies worked best

General Comments:

Excellent trip overall if a little frustrating not to catch any carp after Wednesday morning. Definitely due to the cold rain and big temperature drop especially as the lake is shallow, 2-6ft, around 4ft on average reckon? Lovely lake in a beautiful, mature setting, stunning fish but could do with less small carp and cats. Mark was excellent, made us feel very welcome and is very knowledgeable and helpful. We were lucky to share the complex with a great bunch of blokes on J7 and the main lake who were all top guys, really friendly, my boy thinks they’re all now his mates! Thanks for a good week

All the fish were caught fishing boilies over pellets or particles. Most caught fishing the margins.

General Comments:

An enjoyable week. A slow start but started to pickup after 3 days. We had sunny days and frosts at night.

3 x cat fish to 18lb
1 x sturgeon to 27lb

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Simple hair rigs, bottom baits, fishing tight to the far margin. Bait boat is a must.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Lovely shower, kitchen, very clean. Make sure you bring a bike or scooter as it’s a long walk!

Early in season so hard to say how the fishing is normally, 50% of the caught carp under 30lb. Weather was all over the place. Would go back to Jonchery fishery yes. But I would not fish Jonchery 8 again.

Tough one. Mark and wife are lovely. We had a great time. But for me too many small carp in the lake.

Tried everything within the week to get bites. Didn’t seem fish were feeding actively to be able to catch.

Yes - made a difference the fact the main lake was shut so was only J7 & J8 using facilities.

7th time using angling lines now, service great as always.

General Comments:

As above, tried bottom baits, wafters, pop ups, bags & zigs over the course of the week. Couldn’t buy a bite really in the end. Mark had a little chat with us upon arrival to advise the lake hadn’t been fishing too well, so worked with the information we had. Most of the fish showing looked to be under 20lb with only a few good fish showing across the week. The 2 fish caught & 3 lost all felt from the same weight category.
I do feel there are a lot more smaller fish in the lake than advertised.
Lads on J7 caught but not to the degree you’d expect from that lake, one of them weeks I’m afraid.
