About the Lake
The lake is shaped like an Xmas stocking, with swim 5 tucked neatly on the dam wall at the toe end and the facilities at the opposite end closest to the entrance and swim 1.
The lake bottom is fairly even, mainly silt, with an average depth of around 1.5m and is at its shallowest between swims 3 and 5. One side of the lake affords plenty of shade and the other bank is much more open.
Weed and snags are not a concern here, and there are no poisson chat to worry about. While a few crayfish are present, they’ve not been known to trouble anglers. Rowing boats are not allowed, but you're welcome to use your own baitboat.
Each of the 6 large double swims are spacious and well positioned affording around 5 acres of water for each swim. There's a nice even gravel track all around the lake so getting your tackle to your swim by car is easy.
If you intend to bring a campervan then swims 1 and 2 are suitable for parking behind for the week.
Important note; swims are booked in advance at Jonchery so you'll need to decide which swim you'd like when you book. All swims must be booked by two anglers, with the exception of swims 1 and 5 which can be booked by a single angler if required. Always look at the swim map for this lake as the swims numbers don’t all follow sequentially as you might expect.
