About the Lake
The lake is shaped like a Christmas stocking, with swim 5 tucked neatly on the dam wall at the toe end, and the facilities at the opposite end, closest to the entrance and swim 1.
Depth & features
The lake bottom is fairly even and mainly silt, with an average depth of around 1.5m, shallowest between swims 3 and 5. Weed and snags aren't a concern here, and there are no poisson chat to worry about. There are some crayfish present and you'll also find some coarse species, including tench and roach.
Boats
Rowing boats aren't allowed, but you're welcome to bring your own bait boat.
Swims & vehicle access
Each of the six large double swims is spacious and well positioned, with around 5 acres of water for every swim. A gravel track runs all the way around the lake, making it easy to get your tackle to your swim by car. If you're bringing a campervan, swims 1 and 2 are best suited for parking behind for the week.
Swims are booked in advance at Jonchery so you'll need to decide which swim you'd like when you book. All swims are charged for two anglers, with the exception of swims 1 and 5 which can be booked by a single angler if required. Always look at the swim map for this lake as the swims numbers don’t all follow sequentially as you might expect.
Some anglers, particularly if fishing the furthest swims (swims 3, 5 and 6), also bring a bike for nipping to and from the facilities a little quicker.
