The facilities here are more than expected, complete furnished kitchen with oven and microwave. Showers, toilets and dining area separate all well maintained by Mark and Anita, the fishery managers!

Both Mark and Anita run this fishery to the highest standard, Mark gives you all the advice that is needed to make your week an enjoyable one and Anita’s cooing is too the highest standard!

I would recommend this fishery to anybody however but it’s so well booked all year round I don’t want to shout out to loudly as I want to fish here regularly!

Angling Lines are possibly the best company I have dealt with concerning fishing trips and I have been on a few.

General Comments:

Jonchery fishery in my opinion is one of the best fisheries out there, run by two people who want to make your visit the best it can be, it is a testament that this venue is always well booked to the two of them, I will be back very soon!

36 carp in total 5 x 50lb plus... common 58.10... ghost common 56lb... common 51.08lb... 53.10 grass carp... 55.10 common... 6x40s to 49.12... rest mostly 30s and 20s.

Madbaits boilies over lake pellets and particle and lots of bait used! Snowman or bottom hard hookers working best.

I love Jonchery it really does have some very special carp in there and if you fish it right it can be very rewarding and great fun!.

Absolutely love this lake, stunning carp, Mark the bailiff and his good lady Anita….. recommend her food package lovely grub, will help with advice and a lot more, top fishery, already have 2 trips booked for next year 👏👏👏

General Comments:

At the welcome chat Mark advised us to wrap your baits because “the Tench and Roach are going mad due to the weather” Now either that’s some code I don’t understand or Mark was being ‘economical with the actuality’.
I had bags made up for a flying start, I put the first out and it was away before I could set the bobbin, a Tench about 3lb. Same happened on the second rod. I changed to 26mm boilies and proceeded to set up camp. When I brought them in a few hours later, I had 3 bare rigs, being a bit on the thick side I didn’t twig what was going on. I put mesh on 26mm’s and out again, I brought them in before dark again 3 bare rigs. I did the same again over night, in the morning 3 bare rigs with empty mesh.
Eventually the penny dropped, its blood crayfish, must be millions of them. We changed to shrinkwrap sleeve but we only had 16 & 20 mm sleeves. The baits came back with cones cut into the open ends but still intact and fishing. I’ve been coming to France twice a year for the last 30 years I’ve never come across crayfish action as bad as this. In desperation I tried plastic boilies for the first time ever! They work! I caught 2 little Carp and the 40lb Common on all plastic.

One thing about Jonchery is you meet great helpful people, one guy gave me some extra hard wafters topped with plastic corn. They worked as well, the bait was gnarled but survived, I think the buoyancy makes it harder for the crayfish to get hold of them, unfortunately they only accounted for little Carp and Tench.
It was a crap showing considering we had the top peg, but that’s down to a lot of things including our abilities to deal with the situation.

Brilliant angling on peg 2 accounted for over 30 decent Carp including at least 3 x 50s, other pegs at the house end produced good catches to good angling. ‘Geezer’ on the next peg down from us had a solid result, he had 4 belters in the space of a couple of hours one morning, his tactics also brought a steady flow of good fish throughout the week.

Hopefully Mark will get the act together and get the Crayfish, Tench and Roach under control very soon. All in all, a great venue, with lots of great fish, run by lovely people, the trick, as ever is catching them. BTW, we hope all is well with Anita, get well soon, we need you

*Venue Bailiff note* Thank you for your feedback. As you mention, on arrival you were advised to wrap your baits to deter the roach. Wrap is available free of charge and is the recommended approach.

The lake is scheduled to be netted this winter.
