Weather at Lillypool

Overview

When real enthusiasts get to work on a lake it shows. From the carefully maintained banks to the superb anglers lodge, maximum effort and attention to detail have gone into the creation of their dream.   Lillypool was brand new to Angling Lines in 2010 and quickly became a favourite, never failing to impress our guests.  This beautiful 4 acre lake has been meticulously developed by carp anglers to offer the very best of French carp fishing.  Combine this with an impressive head of fast growing Michel Bigot stocked carp up to substantial 51lb and Lillypool has everything you need for that perfect angling holiday. 

Located in the Pays de Loire region of France close to the cities of Laval and Le Mans, it’s just a short 1½ hours drive from the ferry port at St Malo and is available on an exclusive booking basis for up to five anglers.

So, if you're looking for that magic combination of exclusive intimacy and a reasonably sized lake, Lillypool will definitely fit the bill. 

Dave, Steve, John & Simon fished here in April 2011 taking 45 carp for a total weight of 1,025lb! Best mirror was 35lb 8oz and best common was 37lb 8oz. Here’s what they had to say;

The Carp Lake

Lillypool is a 4 acre spring fed lake with average depths of 3 to 8 feet with features that include lily pads (of course!), extensive reed beds, shallow and deep margins and an island. This lake offers French carp fishing in gorgeous surroundings.

The lake is suitable for 4 to 5 anglers each having plenty of open water and fish holding features to cast to. The banks are flat and carefully thought out placement of swims means that there are 10, giving anglers the freedom and space to move and locate the carp. And you don't have to worry about crayfish or poisson chats... there are none!

Lillypool is set in 10 acres of fields and wooded areas, secure and private, perfect for that ‘all this is ours’ feeling.   Jay the bailiff, now legendary for his hospitality and his knowledge of the lake, will be there to greet you.   After a glass of the red stuff or a cup of tea, whichever you prefer, he will walk and talk you through the swims and it really pays to listen to his advice.

The Carp

Lillypool was initially stocked with carp to just under 40lb in 2007. These fish were supplied by Michel Bigot, one of France’s most revered stockists. A further 33 grass carp were stocked in September 2009 and then in December 2009, the Bigot fish farming team returned to add another 55 carp between 20 and 30lb.

In November 2010 a magnificent 51lb mirror was added to give anglers a real prize target fish to aim for and then finally, in January 2011, a further 24 carp were added, all of which were above 20lb.

The fact that all the carp stocked have come from such healthy, young, Michel Bigot stock means that we can look forward to some excellent growth rates. 

The Facilities

The immaculate lakeside cabin has a well appointed kitchen, dining area, toilet and shower. 

It also has a large covered veranda shaded by weeping willows, which makes it a perfect place to gather for drinks or meals.

Local shops are a 3 minute drive away and a large supermarket is just 10 minutes down the road.

Carp Bait

This venue stocks Quest Baits. To order bait please contact the owner direct. His Email address & phone number can be found on the directions sheet which will be made available to you in your Customer Area on our website when your holiday has been paid for in full.  Please order at least 4 weeks in advance.  Please pay for any bait you order when you arrive in Euros. Please note; the Euro to £ sterling exchange rate can fluctuate throughout the year.

• Quest Rahja Spice, Fruity Trifle, Surf & Turf, Ghurkka Spice . 15mm or 20mm, 1 or 5kg bags
• Pop-ups & dips to match.

Please note; Bait orders are made directly between you and the lake owner and/or Quest Baits.  We (Angling Lines) cannot be held responsible for any problems that may subsequently arise.  If you order bait to be waiting for you when you arrive we strongly recommend you telephone or Email the owner a few days before your arrival to make sure it will be there for you.  In 99% of cases this will just be purely precautionary, but bait is such an important part of your holiday that it’s only sensible to take every step to avoid problems.

Carp Tackle Hire

You can hire a full tackle set-up, including bait boat for £220 (£200 deposit) or you can hire the items separately.

Conditions:

• Applies to fishing but excludes bait etc.
• Applies to a Dover - Calais ferry crossing.  Other crossings will be discounted but it may not be possible to offer a 35% discount on the ferry crossing

Visit this lake 2 (or more) times in the same calendar year & get a 10% discount on the return visits!

We have lots of customers who make more than one trip with us and we want to reward that loyalty. Certain venues have agreed to participate in a discount scheme for return trips. This lake is one of those taking part… so book a return trip and get your 10% discount!

Conditions:

• Applies to fishing only & excludes accommodation (if normally booked separately), food, bait etc.
• Applies to ferry crossing for vehicle only (excludes trailers, cabins etc)
• Members of a group booking who have not visited twice will not be eligible for the discount
• This offer is only valid for return trips taken in the same calendar year and cannot be taken in conjunction with any other offer or special discount applied to this lake
