5 anglers
Details of your catches:
4 individual PB’s
64lb Mirror (matching lake record)
56lb Common
48lb Grass Carp
47lb Mirror
22 fish caught between the 5 of us, so a bit slow at times but no denying the stamp of fish in the lake as we had 10 fish of 40lb+ (12 if you count the 56lb & 64lb) and 5 further carp of 30lb+
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Due to the obvious presence of crayfish, we virtually all fished combinations of tiger nut & plastic corn (some with pop-up corn or pop-up pineapple).
The two swims towards the dam wall often produced fish in the day, whilst those of us fishing the two swims nearer the farmhouse tended to catch at night.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes the facilities were more than adequate, good hot shower, plenty of freezer storage for 5 but fridge space for 5 was somewhat limited with only one half upright available. Not enough for food storage for 5 and certainly no space to cool drinks.
Compost loo on lakeside was a blessing
Were you happy with them?
In general yes, although they were probably at least a mile away so drive to them essential (or bring a ‘pub bike’). Being told (without prior warning) that we were unable to cook lakeside due to fire risk (we were told that this was current law enforcement regulations rather than just the lake owner’s directive) was a bit of a curve ball.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes absolutely.
We got re-routed here just days before departure as water levels & weed at Beaurepaire had become unmanageable for our party of 5. Despite concerns about the drive from Calais, Boux turned out to be a brilliant replacement - great stamp of carp (we did catch a couple of pike too), excellent for a social set-up, beautifully shaded from the hot sun on the wood bank and no mosquitos/insect bites during our time there.
We’ll be booking again at Boux for sure.

General Comments:
We had a great time and thank you to Angling Lines for offering us an alternative to Beaurepaire with literally days to spare.
