About the Lake
This is a fantastic lake for the thinking angler with no shortage of features. It retains a very wild feel and suits anglers that appreciate this and are happy to work for their captures.
Depths range from 1.5m to 7m, with an average of around 5m, but you’ll also find shallow gravel bars and plateaus in places with depths of around 1.5m. The majority of the margins are heavily tree-lined (and some with real depth too) and these prove very popular to fish towards, although anglers should be mindful of snags and fish accordingly.
The lake bed is a mix of sand, gravel and some silt pockets. There are beds of weed plus naturals such as clams, cockles, mussels - all of these make for a very healthy lake with very big carp!
The swims are all good sized doubles, well spaced with a gravel base. A well maintained gravel track allows great vehicle access to each, although vehicles must be returned to the car park after unloading. The lake is completely fenced.
Bait boats are allowed and one rowing boat is provided free of charge on each swim (with a life jacket, which must be worn at all times).
Four Minn Kota engines with batteries (and chargers supplied) are available to hire for 55 € for the week. If you require one of these engines please book in advance, to reserve please contact the owner direct. The owners email address & phone number can be found on the 'Info Pack' in your Customer Area once your holiday is booked. You pay the owner in Euros when you arrive.
Each swims water boundary is marked out with marker poles and buoys, so there’s no confusion on where everyone can fish. You can also use these markers to your advantage as fishing towards them seems to be a popular tactic of the French anglers that know the lake well.
Some crayfish are present but not in numbers to cause any real issues. However, we always recommend going prepared with shrink wrap or similar just in case. There are no poisson chat.
Swim information:
Swim 1: double swim, 3 metres average depth, bottom mainly sand and gravel with the presence of some weed. Very varied features, margin fishing and open water.
Swim 2: double swim, around 5 metres depth, bottom mainly gravel, sand and mud substrate. Fishing towards the margins and lots of open water. When booking a lake exclusive you can also actually fit up to 4 anglers on this swim if you wish.
Swim 3: double swim, between 3-4 metres in average depth, bottom mainly substrate, sand and silt. Mainly margins and feature fishing - so suits anglers that are happy to fish up to snags etc.
Swim 4: can be booked as a single or double swim (although it is on the smaller side). Around 5.5 metres depth on average, bottom mainly sand and silt substrate. Fishing margins and open water.
Please note; there is also a swim 5 on the lake (which can be used as a single or double), this is located on the same bank as swim 4 and anglers are welcome to fish this when booking the lake for your group exclusively. You would need to utilise this swim if booking for a large group of 9 or 10 anglers
