About the Lake
Covering 3 acres, this is a long slim lake and its far margins are within easy casting distance, but a bait boat will definitely give you an advantage.
The depth is between 1-3m and it is originally believed to be a slate quarry so the bottom is varied with some silt pockets. Overhanging trees offer some lovely margin spots and the lake has several water sources within it.
There are no poisson chat and although a few crayfish exist, these do not seem to cause anglers issues. Snags are minimal and any weed is not problematic.
Ultimately, as you are hiring the lake to yourselves for the week, you are welcome to fish where you like from the banks. But the main swims are the 4 gravel single swims on the far side and also a pontoon near the house (accessed by a few steps).
The pontoon swim has access to half the lake, including all the right hand bank. There is a large overhanging tree to the left which can be a hot spot for the carp. The four swims on the far side give access to the whole lake and look across to the house.
You have vehicle access right to the house and therefore can park relatively close to the pontoon swim in front of it, which sits just down a flight of steps. There is no vehicle access to the four swims on the far side, you follow a grass footpath around the lake to access them (approximately 200m), however a barrow is made available for transporting your tackle.
