Bears Lake Facilities
This is one of our most charming carp fishing lakes in France with accommodation - a private 2-bedroom apartment forming the top floor of the lakeside house, with its own exterior staircase from the driveway. The owner lives on site in the apartment below and is happy to offer advice if needed, but otherwise leaves you to enjoy your holiday.
Inside, the apartment opens into a comfortable living area with a seating area, dining table, satellite TV, and WiFi and central heating for the cooler months.
The fully equipped kitchen has a stove, oven/grill, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, and all the cooking utensils and crockery you'll need - with a separate freezer on hand to store bait. The water connection is mains and therefore safe to drink.
There are two bedrooms: a twin with lake views, and a double with its own small balcony, where you can catch glimpses of the lake through the trees. A shower room with sink and WC completes the apartment, and all linen and towels are included.
Outside, you'll find a BBQ and a table and chairs for dining overlooking the lake. The whole venue is fully fenced with a lockable gate at the entrance.
Airport pick ups
Airport pick ups can be arranged from Limoges airport at a cost of £150 each way (for up to 4 people). If required, please contact the owner to arrange once booked.
Local area
Bears Lake isn't just a great choice for anglers - its location in the Dordogne, one of France's most-popular tourist regions, means there's plenty nearby to keep non-fishing partners and family entertained too.
Grand Étang De Saint Saud
This is a beautiful natural swimming lake with beach, bar/restaurant and children’s play areas. There are lifeguards onsite in July & August and watersport activities are available. This is just a couple of minutes from the venue by car.
Grotte de Villars
The Villars cave is the only cave in Périgord to house both original prehistoric paintings and concretions. There's a cafe and snack bar on site with shaded terrace and plenty for kids to do with a large play area. A 20 minute drive from the venue.
Brantôme
The town of Brantôme, also known as the Venice of Périgord, is located 30 minutes drive from the venue. There are many great restaurants and a fabulous market here every Friday. You can also rent canoes which is a great activity for a sunny day.
Château de Jumilhac & Gardens
An imposing castle dating back to the 13th century with spectacular roofing you won't find anywhere else in France. A 30 minute drive from the venue.
Saint-Jean de Côle
Saint Jean de Côle, in the hills of Périgord Vert, is a medieval village classified amongst “The most beautiful villages in France”. Take a stroll around the quaint streets and visit one of the restaurants and cafes here. A 25 minute drive from the venue.
