Were the facilities what you expected?
We’ve been here many times - the facilities do the job!
Were you happy with them?
They are more than adequate for a ‘Drive & Survive’ venue
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Absolutely. Easy drive, good social setup & stamp of fish is amazing. We’ve already booked again for 2026!
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Always an easy experience booking through Angling Lines
General Comments:
Although the larger spit was above water, there were swans nesting on there so we elected to fish to all corners of the lake from the spit on the far bank. Fishing was a little slow (evidence of fish spawning may not have helped - who knows?) Most fish were caught fishing from the back spit towards the cabins - lots of grass carp. One of our group had a good battle with a 124lb catfish! Always made to feel welcome again by Sophie.

4th time back here and never disappointed, Sophie was very helpful also. Difficult week for the fishing, started spawning at one point, and the weather was freakishly hot.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
100%. Close to Calais. Beautiful wild lake. Got loads of fantastic fish in.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Absolutely. After twenty years of using Angling lines we met Bridget who was on a tour of the lakes. Honest company. Removes all the worry of lake owners who lie and there are loads of them.
General Comments:
Read other comments with a pinch of salt. There was absolutely no weed. we did not see a single rat. Sounds like rising waters may have driven them out of holes. The lake was a reasonable level. Do not go there if you want log lines marked out swims it is more wild than that and that is its charm.

General Comments:
Got told the lake was loosing water as it had been flooded, it lost about 2-3inches of water in a week the lake was about 10ft higher in water than it should have been, and very muddy nearly lost the van in the lake as I parked the van where I was told and it slid in the lake. The owner said she would bring us water but didn’t return. Left with no running water for 24hrs, when we rang the lake owner she said she would send someone but only at night, not good when your full of mud and can’t clean yourself. Not a very good lake or well run, the excess water should have been pumped out so we could fish, very disappointed with the trip I will be avoiding this lake in future. *Angling Lines note* Thank you for sharing your feedback - we really appreciate it. As we mention on the lake information page, water levels can naturally vary a lot throughout the year since the lake is fed directly by the water table. We completely understand that the higher levels during your visit change where you can comfortably access with your vehicle and fish. That’s why we reached out ahead of time to give you a heads-up and suggest coming prepared for wet conditions. We also kept the number of anglers limited to three that week in hopes of making things a bit more comfortable for everyone. A kettle is provided for hot water in the kitchen, we've now updated the website to make that clearer—thank you for bringing it to our attention. *Owner note* We are really so sorry for the water tank running out during one of the days, we try our best to respond quickly and we were able to refill this after 6pm on the same day.
