Details of your catches:

I caught 20 Carp in total and 1 Catfish on the last night. Biggest Carp was 32lb 08oz and the Catfish was 24lb 08oz. I had seven 20's and a Grass Carp of 17lb 02oz. I also lost quite a few fish in the snags and Weed.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I fished three different approaches, which were Spodded Particles Bolies and Pellets. All methods worked however the better fish came to the spodded particles fishing Maize as the hookbait. The Method also produced some Fish later in the week.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Were you happy with them?

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

General Comments:

Everything was really good. The owner was very helpful even with the language differences. The Cabin was a brilliant addition and the use of a shower and the introduction of Two fridges and a freezer was excellent. Even the locals who came down to retrieve potatoes from the earth tipped for swim construction next year couldnt of been more freindly. A secret lake that unfortunatly everyone now knows about. Definatley consider this water if you want to go to France for a social and some excellent fishing.

Most tactics we tried worked well, Feeders with spread boilies, also spodded beds of particle this worked well with maize hookbaits 14mm snowman rigs.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Were you happy with them?

General Comments:

We didn't fish off the spit as the water levels were up. We fished the bay next to the hut, we would like to see the swims cut and levelled. All in all it was excellent. We plan to return in 2 years, by which time if they continue to grow as they are ther will be some whackers to try for.

Details of your catches:

Well what can I say! What a runs water!!!!! Between the 5 of us we had.... 330 carp!!!

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We all had bait boats and they achieved great results, loaded up with pellets and parti-blend. After putting in a bed of bait it was non stop action all over the lake. Boilies took the majority of the fish.from 15mm to 20mm fishmeal or fruit, tiger nuts also put a lot on the bank. Once a bed of bait was put down it was non stop action.

General Comments:

Once we arrived at the lake we noticed that the water level was about 6-8feet higher than it should have been, there was no point and hardly any island. The entire pool is surrounded in little bushes and trees which were also submerged. Finding pegs was not that bad, but getting the fish in was.... you had to wade in up to your waist with every fish to surface them over the sunken bushes....but after you have gone out for the 1st few fish we soon got used to it, but it did get a little cold in the middle of the night though up to your waist in water with just your your shorts on, but thats fishing. Apart from the high water level we couldn't have asked for a better holiday. The owners are great they can't do enough for you,its a very easy place to get to and the fishing is fantastic as you can see by our weight. The cabin is great everything you need, only down side it could do with more than 1 plug socket apart from that super. GREAT TRIP, GREAT HOLIDAY, GREAT FISHING what more can we say. From all of us to all of you "TIGHT LINES" and thank you.

Details of your catches:

This was a family holiday, hence I fished the nights and we toured the area during the day. First night I had a bream, only the following four nights I averaged five carp per night. Largest fish was low twenties.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Had a good cast around with my marker float and found a slight depression in the lake bed at 95 yards. Cast out two markers to this spot and baited heavily with hemp, pellets and Quest Rahja spice boilies.I fished all three rods on this spot. I baited up every night before fishing and every morning before going out with the family.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Facilities were exactly what we expected, you need to bring your own cutlery and cooking utensiles.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, but a mop and brush would have been handy.

General Comments:

This is a very pleasant lake and we really enjoyed our holiday. This is an ideal venue for a first trip to France as you only need to travel on two roads and the venue is stuffed full of carp. It is also ideal to learn your kids how to catch carp, my 11 year old mark had a great time Standard UK bait and tactics are more than adequate. I had a mess around with my terminal tackle and caught on everything I tried. The options I tried were: Single hookbait at range. stiff link Pop-up Bottom bait Supple braid Running lead Fixed lead Every option caught If you want a pleasant holiday in France and want to catch fish this is the place for you. The area is also very interesting, Reims cathedral is well worth a visit. The tourist information shop in Reims is excellent and they speak very good English. There are tours of the local Champagne caves in English. We found a beautiful swimming lake to the north west with a hugh adventure playground for the kids. Just an excellent part of France, enjoy.
