Details of your catches:

Brie is exactly as described - a beautiful lake in the woods with lots a wildlife to look at. Mark the bailiff was bang on with the information to where the fish would be and every one that was caught was in beautiful shape. The facilities were clean and tidy with warm showers and as expected on a drive and survive venue.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Bottom baits on a slip d rig far margins

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes they are a bit of a walk up the track but we new this as angling lines show on the site map. The toilet at the lake came in handy if you got caught short using a bucket of water to flush it was not a problem after all it is a drive and survive venue

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Details of your catches:

Fishing was difficult with high air and water temperatures and depth of water in parts of the lake. In the 1st 36 hours I had 6 runs and landed 4 fish with a couple of 30+ commons, grass carp to 41+ and a mirror to 25+

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Critically balanced baits fished in the deeper water.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, everything was as described.

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes, but at a different time of year.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes. This was our 1st time with Angling Lines and we will definitely book again.

General Comments:

We were in contact with Mark, the bailiff before we arrived and he gave us a bit of advice. We met him and he was really helpful. After a couple of days we had little confidence in catching fish at the dam end because of the depth of water, Mark offered us the chance to move to another lake. He also helped us out getting some more bait so really couldn't have helped us any more.

Details of your catches:

3 fish in the whole week between 4 anglers which meant that one didn't get anything. We arrived at the venue and no one was there. When mark arrived he was really negative and told us not to expect much from the week.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Opposite to what the bailiff told us, there was no access to stalk other than the 2 pegs on a 15 acre lake as it was overgrown for 90% of the lake

Were the facilities what you expected?

Toilet was bad had to get lake water to flush Showers were ok

Were you happy with them?

No

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

No

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Lake needs attention as it is very shallow and silt is very deep.

*Angling Lines note* As per your group's other feedback, we have discussed this feedback with the bailiff Mark and we understand he was in contact with your group both before arrival and on the day to notify you that were welcome to get set up when you arrived and he would be down later in the afternoon. Regarding the negativity, we understand Mark let you know the fish had spawned the week before and that we were due extremely hot weather (40+ degrees, record breaking temperatures for France) which would make the fishing difficult, however we are sorry if this came across as overly negative. We do state on the website that there is a basic lakeside portaloo and that the rest of the facilities are further up the track (including a more modern toilet).

We do appreciate it is not possible to stalk round the whole of the lake here, Brie is a very natural venue, with the top end of the lake boundaries forming part of a nature reserve and by design this is left un-manicured. However, with this in mind, the two large double swims were built out into the water, giving access to fish the margins on either side of you as well as those on the far bank.
