About the Lake
There are just four double swims here (although swim one can also be booked for a single angler if you wish). The first three swims run down the south bank and swim 4 sits central on the dam wall on the eastern end. This layout provides plenty of water per angler, good privacy for each swim and no worry of snagging other's lines.
A gravel track provides good vehicle access to all the pegs and your vehicles can also remain parked behind you swim on all swims except swim 3. If you have a larger campervan then swims 2 & 4 are the better choice.
This is a fairly shallow lake, with a maximum depth of 2m towards the dam wall (less in the summer months). The lake bed is quite even, clay with a top layer of silt. Main features are over-hanging trees and reed-lined margins. There is nothing that causes anglers' concern in terms of weed, though there are a few snags on the far margin when fishing tight.
Whilst there are a few crayfish and poisson chat, these do not seem to cause anglers any problems.
More Information on the Swims
Swim 1 is the shallowest swim with reed beds and a small patch of lillies to the left with overhanging trees along the far margin. This is a double swim, but can also be booked as a single. You can park your vehicle behind your swim.
Swim 2 is built a couple of metres out into the water, with gravelled space directly behind for your bivvy. Depths to the front average 1m and the far margin is at a range of 140m and is scattered with overhanging trees and snags. However if you can get to within 20m of it you can be in luck as there are often numbers of carp held up in that area. The fallen tree in the near margin to the right is an area that tends to hold carp and resident catfish. This is a double swim. A baitboat can be advantageous if you are not comfortable casting to the distances needed for the far margin areas. You can park your vehicle behind your swim, this swim is also suited for larger campervans.
Swim 3 is built out slightly into the lake. This is where most anglers set up their rod pods, etc whilst their bivvies sit in a much larger sheltered and shady clearing just behind the track with direct view of your rods. It has dead trees along the far margin at a range of 80-100m and is a popular swim that produces lots of fish. A baitboat can be advantageous if you are not comfortable casting to the distances needed for the far margin areas. Unfortunately you cannot leave your vehicle parked behind this swim, as it would impede the circulation track.
Swim 4 is located centrally on the dam wall. Being the only swim on this side of the lake it covers a lot of water, particularly great when the wind is blowing easterly towards that end. Again it's spacious, level and gravelled. The main features are the marginal tree line and dead tree that protrudes out from the far margin. You can park your vehicle behind your swim, this swim is also suited for larger campervans.
